It's said that in the past people with epilepsy were believed to have been "visited by gods" or enlightened or something of that nature. I guess it still happens today.

I hope everything worked out for him

We held the 2005 Summer Camp in a high school gym. The air conditioning system was on a timer which shut down promptly at 4:00PM, late July, Northern Kentucky. With over 200 kendoists in the gym, it was quickly up over the 90 degree mark and probably even higher.

Oh good, he must be well enough if he's still involved in kendo

It didn't stop our practice, but one day practice was delayed due to pudding. Someone got a promotion at work or something so they brought in pudding for everyone to celebrate. Being the fun mix of oji-sans that we are (except me), we all sat in seiza around sensei's little table and enjoyed a nice snack before practice. Felt strange to be eating instead of practicing, but it was nice to congratulate the guy on his promotion.

I guess for me it would be a snowstorm. It started snowing earlier in the day and it progressed to about 5 or 6 inches. I wasn't able to go anyways since I had a project to do, but practice was cancelled due to how dangerous it was out there. Snow and college students just don't mix.

This don't happened to me, but a friend of mine was doing suburis in his garden, when the neighbour's dog showed up and tried to get his shinai! The dog was so possessed of the idea to get the shinai, that my friend had to flee into the house. But don't worry he could save his shinai.

I don't know what i'd rather have, 1 day of kendo or 1 day of snow. For me, the snow is just the best

Hmmnnnn...getting my car nailed by a truck turning into my dojo(my fault)...

The best part was next training when my dojomates were all buzzing about the BMW Z3 that got nailed outside last training and then someone saying, "I'd hate to be the poor sap who owned that car!" and then I went..."Uh...that would be me..."
BMW Z3, eh? A very nice car... for a rich-boy show-off.

Election! The church I practice at lends its gym on election days for voting. It happened often on our Tuesday practices.

Sex. That's not that odd actually.

One night during practice a frazzled looking, young hispanic girl in a halter top and shorts ran in the middle of the dojo shouting, "Where is my sister?!?!?" All the kenshi stopped for a couple of seconds, then returned to keiko. I escorted her outside and told her her sister was not there. She then walked away. She must have been mentally ill or something.

For us, we practice in a gym that's attached to a dance studio with a pair of doors separating the two. There were a couple weeks last year where there was a yoga class in the dance studio so we all kept wondering to ourselves what was running through their minds as we did uchikomi, kirikaeshi, etc. We really started to wonder after our dojo mentor, who was leading practice, got a tad fed up with a bunch of newbies who had really crappy kiai. To fix this, he had everybody work on footwork and holding our kiai for as long and as loud as we could as we moved across the floor. I got the distinct feeling that those yoga people were a little disturbed because as we were leaving practice, some of them were giving us confused looks .
