It didn't stop our practice, but one day practice was delayed due to pudding. Someone got a promotion at work or something so they brought in pudding for everyone to celebrate. Being the fun mix of oji-sans that we are (except me), we all sat in seiza around sensei's little table and enjoyed a nice snack before practice. Felt strange to be eating instead of practicing, but it was nice to congratulate the guy on his promotion.

We held the 2005 Summer Camp in a high school gym. The air conditioning system was on a timer which shut down promptly at 4:00PM, late July, Northern Kentucky. With over 200 kendoists in the gym, it was quickly up over the 90 degree mark and probably even higher. ![]() ![]() |

I guess for me it would be a snowstorm. It started snowing earlier in the day and it progressed to about 5 or 6 inches. I wasn't able to go anyways since I had a project to do, but practice was cancelled due to how dangerous it was out there. Snow and college students just don't mix. ![]() |

One night during practice a frazzled looking, young hispanic girl in a halter top and shorts ran in the middle of the dojo shouting, "Where is my sister?!?!?" All the kenshi stopped for a couple of seconds, then returned to keiko. I escorted her outside and told her her sister was not there. She then walked away. She must have been mentally ill or something.

For us, we practice in a gym that's attached to a dance studio with a pair of doors separating the two. There were a couple weeks last year where there was a yoga class in the dance studio so we all kept wondering to ourselves what was running through their minds as we did uchikomi, kirikaeshi, etc. We really started to wonder after our dojo mentor, who was leading practice, got a tad fed up with a bunch of newbies who had really crappy kiai. To fix this, he had everybody work on footwork and holding our kiai for as long and as loud as we could as we moved across the floor. I got the distinct feeling that those yoga people were a little disturbed because as we were leaving practice, some of them were giving us confused looks
