This is my first post, so I hope I've thrown it into the right place.
I've been looking for Iaido instructors in the upstate NY area (more specifically, near Albany, NY) to no avail. I think there used to be one in Schenectady, NY called Meitokukan Kendo and Iaido Club, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist anymore. The website for it doesn't seem to work either (www.meitokukan.org). Is there a website or some sort of directory that any of you are aware of that I can use to aid in my search? I don't even have a clue as to how much instruction costs and what kind of equipment I'd have to put money towards as a beginner. Can anyone clue me in? Thanks for any help that you can offer and I apologize if I've started this thread in the wrong section. |

I used to run the kendo practice at Meitokukan. They are still there; I was in touch with them just last week regarding the upcoming kendo shinsa, and one person who practices iaido at Meitokukan visits Ken-Zen (where I currently practice) on a regular basis.
I'm very sorry about the difficulty you've had in reaching someone for practice. Unfortunately, I don't know what the current contact information is. Which is to say that I don't know who volunteered to put their name, phone number, and email address on the now defunct web page. I will, however, ask someone to respond to this post and let us all know. I will also email the guy who took over the web site from me and ask him what is up with the web page and other contact pages. |
