Default Done anything creative with you equipment???
I just wanted to see what all you've done with your equipment that's creative. I've heard of people making things out of their old shinai staves or making your own tsuba or things like that.
Also, I'm thinking about sanding a design into my Bokken, but I'd have to ask my sensei what he thinks about that first. I dont know if this would be considered disrespectful to my weapon. I'm decent at art and I'm always trying to customize my belongings to reflect me personally, therefore I also want to do this to my bokken. Does anyone advise against this??

I think you can do what you want on your bokken,in sensible terms,of course. One of my previous senseis presented me a Tokugawa mon sticker and told me I could put it on the Bokken if I wanted to.

hmm, i've never heard of anyone carving a design into their bokken, mind you, I have my kanji carved into the handle of my bokuto and kodachi, but that's just so people know that it's mine! (everyone who handles it says it feels like a toothpick)

I have kanji seared (with a branding iron) into the side of my odachi/kodachi. Nobody really notices though - its there for me...
