So did the kids in your area just start school? That seems pretty late compared to the US.

"Nerds", as opposed to us Engineering, Scientific, (or, grudgingly, Legal) "Geeks". Geeks run the world, Nerds and Otaku stay at home and play nintendo in their pajamas.

I'd say this applies to parents, also, not just kids. Someone has to drive all the kids to/from all the practices and lessons and such!

If you know what OC-48, XAUI or 1GbE is - you're a geek.

It's all just waves...put a fiver in the palm and nobody will care if you got the handshake right.

May I draw your attention to Otaku and Wapanese...?

The latter definition is murderously funny.

HA!
I am in the middle of a CCA design that has both a XAUI and a 1GbE interface on it. It also has RS-232, RS-485, and JTAG.

my favourite bit There is a difference between watching anime and being Wapanese.

An anime watcher does just that, he watches anime.

The Wapanese watch anime and will think they were born and raised in Japan. excellent find that man

my pet kyron/khryon/should really remember his name, is a prime example of being wapanish

thinking about it, hes been quiet of late too, maybe hes too busy wiping bogies under his desk

im not even reading the weblish posts im afraid, they do the same thing to my brain as numbers

Ummmmm... yeah, I have no idea... of course, then again, I find "leet speak" the biggest abortion of the English language since ebonics.

I love #8 for Wapanese:

See "The Last Samurai"

No, seriously, go see that movie if you want a very good definition. Tom Cruise's character is totally Wapanese.

ok here's an update. as all the "otaku" have left the forums for school, they seem to have migrated to tan shin kai where there have been 5 to 10 observers every practice for the past month! mostly different people each time, fun.
