Default UCL Kendo
Hey! Just for those interested, I finally had my first practise at UCL last night. It was well fun, members were welcoming. Finally met Gibbo ... only story to be told from the practise was that, since there were so many kendokas, and a very limited space in the dojo, it was really crowded. So we were doing Do waza, and the bloke next to me managed to get the shinai into the hole on the side of my hakama whilst I was going forward, and ripped it wide open! For a while I was showing my bare arse to the world, no wonder the beginners (new recruits) were giggling ... I had to try and tuck it in and continue. It held, surprisingly. So yeah, what a way to start haha but it was a good practise overall! Customarily went to the pub afterwards. Another happy kendo story to go around ...

As awooka guy would put it, "That is all."

Another convert. welcome. I don't think that i have ever heard of a hakama being riped like that. I have heard of kegoi being rip by a shinai while fighting but hever that. Guess it's time for a new hakama

I'm glad you enjoyed your first keiko at UCL. Shame about your hakama though!

Funnily enough the same thing happened in the Kasahara Cup when we fought in the team event. One of our team mates shredded his opponents hakama half way through the match!

I'm sensing a pattern here... haha

That is all.
You'lll also need some fabric tape, to "chin strap" it to your men so you can vom mid-keiko without stopping.

Not really. I wasn't sure why people had a massive problem with him to be honest. Maybe I missed some of his more choice moments, but in person he is a normal human bean.
