Let's just say I have a couple animes on DVD and VHS and anime soundtracks on CD. I also have a sushi making bamboo mat, an empty box of Pocky, and some wooden chopsticks. That should tell you how good my kendo is.

1 x Set of bogu (not the expensive stuff!)
1 x Shinai (bamboo, not carbon)
1 x Bokken
1 x kendo-gi and a hakama (not of the flash variety)
1 x bogu bag
1 x shinai bag

So I'm not even close to the RBSO standard. More like 'ghetto kendoka' standard really. But hey, it works for me.

D00d! Where did you get this? Also, I have looked EVERYWHERE for Musashi no Ken. I hope their is a transcript out there or a fansub group (untill my nihongo gets better that is )

And as for the mini-suburito.... I'd have that with me at al times but my teachers in school wouldn't be too happy. However, I might be able to squeak it through on "Religious Grounds" *cough*
Haha, you won't believe how much time I spent looking for that DVD set.

as for the mini-suburito, the one I have is less likely to give rise to confusions becuase it's fully fitted with all the leather trimmings ala a real shinai. It's a hoot.

Ummm, I guess I'm what people would call a BSO (being not rich at all). Without taking an inventory:
  • 2 bogus;
  • 2 hakamas;
  • 3 keikogis
  • 10-ish tenuguis (including totoro, astro-boy, and a few hand-printed ones from fujiya of asakusa-bashi that I'd be more likely to hang up on a wall than use);
  • a bagful of tsubas, shinai fittings, himos, kansai and kanto style chichigawas, plastic visor, achilles supporter, tabi sock, heel protector, etc;
  • 3 kendo bags (1 carry-on with rollers, 1 canvass and 1 square bag with padded shoulder straps)
  • 8 shinais plus 2 shotos (including 2 nito sets, and 2 extra-heavy shinais)
  • 1 mini suburito for suburi at the office/home (about 2 feet in length, but wide as the widest part of a bat except for the handle);
  • 2 suburitos;
  • 2 bokuto plus 1 kodachi;
  • 1 bokuto made from compressed bamboo fiber that looks just like a shinai;
  • 14-ish kendo related books (not counting anything that mentions kenjutsu, etc);
  • 35-ish kendo magazines (and growing);
  • 1 set of the manga Miyamoto Musashi by the guy who drew Slam Dunk (bloody good manga for anyone who's into the more "realistic" portrayals of kenjutsu, none of that ultrasonic ninjutsu flame breathing stuff);
  • 1 set of the anime Musashi-no-Ken DVD;
  • assorted Kendo related DVDs.
I guess I now know why I am not "rich", though some of the stuff are hand-me-downs. Now if I only have the skills to go with the above, sigh.

Hey Gibbo, what DVD's do you have, and more importantly, where did you get them (I've never come across any DVD and I dont own a video player - Im hoping they're either AJKC or the East vs West comps)??
I've got some crap thing with some matches from last years AJKC, from the front of a kendo nippon (I think), the 8th dan taikai from last year (Yamada wins it), the all japans that Chikamoto won, a sort of compilation disc of all the akjc from 2000 - 2003 (quite good actually!) and the Nanadan taikai from (again I think) last year. Miyazaki won it. Again.

I usually get that sort of stuf copied from my friends in japan (most of my vids are copies) but the Nanadan Taikai and the 2003 AJKC things are "originals".

But my crap DVD player is bust, so no watching for me unless I watch it on my wife's laptop! Gutted!

That is alot of Tenuguis!
Actually, thats after I donated roughly 80 or so to my club. The buggers just built up!

And the bougu is all mine. 2 sets for practise and 1 for shiai and gradings.

Wow keep in mind that I have been doing kendo for a little over 9 months now:

1 set of bogu
1 Bogu bag
5 Tenuguis
3 hakema
4 gi
2 obi
14! bokken (These are for the beginners in our dojo but technically belong to me until I can sell most of them off)
2 small bokken
2 shinai bags
1 heavy duty bokken bag
1 Iaito for kata
3 Kendoka figurines
1 Miniture Iaito that is actually a letter opener
1 mini bokken and stand
20 or so books
10 or so magazines in japanese that I cannot read but the pictures are pretty
1 bottle oil for shinai
A bunch of stuff for iaido (our university has kendo and iaido as one club) which I won't list here
1,000,000+ dreams of beautiful white bogu and a perfect men strike with a white shinai (don't ask me where I'll get that)

I may have forgotten something but it is late and I am procrastinating my homework again.

Those training dummies are on the pricey side...

Around 500-600$ right ?
Yeah...$600 from e-bogu. It doubles as a drying rack.
