Default The Beer Thread
After searching high and low, I could not find a beer thread, so here it is!

Whats your favourite?

My top three:

1) Trumer Pils (Austria)
2) Blue Tongue Lager (Australia)
3) James Squire Amber Ale (Australia)

Discuss!

I am pretty excited, after six months of not being able to contribute anything to this forum, Yiu Fai has given me a reason to finally register.

Top 3:
Maisel's Weisse - my all time #1
Moose Drool (Big Sky Brewing)
Oberon (Bells Brewery)

Honorable mentions:
Anchor Steam - great beer that is easy to find at stores.
Terminator Stout - exceptional stout, but very hard to find outside Oregon.

Creemore Springs Lager (Canada)
Steamwhistle (Canada)
La Fin Du Monde (Canada)

One must be careful with La Fin Du Monde though as it's something upwards of 10%

The sad thing, here is Milwaukee's Best's recent awards:
Milwaukee's Best
American-Style Lager
* Bronze Medal, 2005 Great American Beer Festival
* Silver Medal, 2000 North American Beer Awards
* Silver Medal, 2003 Great American Beer Festival
* Silver Medal, 2004 Great American Beer Festival

Not that I can drink it with or without the medals. I'd say you could add Michelob Ultra Amber, and every Coors product to your list too.

Like Pete said... too many to list. Some of my top favs though (and I include porter and ale in this... ). Brewery in ():

Spotted Cow (New Glarus);
Duck Rabbit Porter (Duck Rabbit)
Pilot Mountain Pale Ale (Foothills Brewing Co.)

but there are a lot more that I like...

As for the worst.. I'd go with Genesee Cream Ale, Bud anything and.... there are so many bad ones the third is hard to name.

I've been drinking Dogfish Head beer recently - from some place in Delaware. Very nice beers. At one brew fest I had their 60-minute pale ale filtered through a large bed of fresh hops. Wow, that was good. My favorites change frequently:

1) Tie between Dogfish Head's Indian Brown and 60-minute pale.
2) My local brewpub's pumpkin ale - should be coming out soon.
3) Cantillon's Organic Gueuze - one of the few imports that still tastes good after importation.

Hence my friend's old apartment rule:
"After 3 beers, move on to the cheap stuff."

ACTUALLY, pale ales are for panty wists.

To my palette, pale ales have even less taste than light beers. Especially crappy India Pale Ales. In Canada we have a beer called Alexander Keith's IPA and it is hugely popular....yet I have no idea why. Well actually, it's probably because a lot of people who drink beer don't drink it because they like the TASTE, but because they want to get drunk.
