Its a sad day for Aussies. Our charismatic, lovable, always-responsible crocodile-hunter, Steve Irwin, has died while filming a documentary on the Great Barrier Reef today after he was speared by a stingray barb through the chest.
The moron finally pissed off one animal too many. To get "attacked" by a stingray you have to really really piss it off. Ive always thought he was an irresponsible maniac. The one sad thing about it is that while all of Australia now knows the details, his wife is trekking in Tasmania and wont know till she gets back to civilisation. |

stingrays are the largest of the venomous fish.

hehehe!! Yeah, the stings contain a toxin that will make you sick, but not kill you. He had the unfortunate luck to get the barb right through the heart.
I want to give the stingray a medal. As for the grading Beck, it went great!! I double graded to 3rdkyu and Brian sensei gave me a tenugui for my effort. :] Im one happy girl. |

He might have been crazy, but the things that he did for the animal world was amazing. He has gotten close to dangerous animals so that the general public, who generally doesn't know how to deal with animals, doesn't have to. It's pretty sad that he had to die this way, but at least he died doing what he loved.

I really feel bad for his family. His son is still only 3.
I grew up watching his TV shows on Animal Planet and Discovery. I got into the whole reptile-pet keeping scene because of him(and I don't regret it). Even if we all knew it was going happen sooner or later, Steve doesn't deserve some of the criticism some people on here are giving him. How would you like it if(just as an example we can all relate with) you had died from a missed tsuki or shinai to the throat and people were going around saying "that so-and-so had it coming, that kendo martial art thing was just way too dangerous!" or "that shinai should get a medal for killing so-and-so" I mean honestly, people, he chose to do what he loves to do even with the risks involved, and sure enough those risks killed him. We all do something we love to do, and kendo has risks involved too(not quite to the same extent, but you get the point), so if we died doing kendo, it wouldn't be that much different. I don't see how anyone can go around and criticize him for risking his life when we do it twice a week(again, I'm not saying crocs and shinais have the same deadliness). In the end, nobody should be mocked or looked down on after they've just passed away. Like in the example I used before, how would you feel? |
