Default Soundtrack of my life.
A brief musical interlude to all the movie madness that has gripped this part of the forum recently.

If you had to make up a soundtrack of your life, which songs would feature on it and why?

Like the line "never going to be more than me". Its kind of negative especially in the context of Kendo which tends to favour becoming more than oneself but its nice to "bum" out now and then.....

At the moment the latest Jameroquai album (or however you spell it, you know, the guy with all the hats!). All the songs remind me of summer and the beach, BBQs with friends etc. Fabulous.

Blimey, Rottunpunk, that's a killer list you've got there!

As for myself:

Alive - Pearl Jam
Them Bones - Alice In Chains
Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica
Angry Again - Megadeth
Back In Black - AC/DC

That's it so far. Grunge-flavoured and groovy, just like me!

All right, "Submission" was the only good tune the Pistols ever recorded and Sham 69 were strictly second rate, but I can definitely get on board with The Clash.

A top 20 of (mostly UK) classic 70s punk, in no particluar order:

1. The Clash -- Protex Blue
2. Wire -- Pink Flag
3. Gang of Four -- I Found that Essence Rare
4. The Subway Sect -- Chain Smoking
5. The Saints -- This Perfect Day
6. The Slits -- Love und Romanz
7. Television -- Elevation
8. Swell Maps -- Read about Seymour
9. Desperate Bicycles -- Advice on Arrest
10. The Fall -- Kicker Conspiracy (with its subtle Georgie Best reference)
11. The Ramones -- Commando
12. TV Personalities -- King and Country
13. The Germs -- Lexicon Devil
14. Pere Ubu -- Street Waves
15. Richard Hell and the Voidoids -- Blank Generation
16. The Buzzcocks -- Lipstick / Magazine -- Shot by Both Sides
17. The Fire Engines -- Get up and Use Me
18. The Ruts -- In a Rut
19. The Vibrators -- Whips and Furs
20. X-Ray Spex -- Oh Bondage, Up Yours!

With honourable mention going to the following proto-punk tunes:

New York Dolls-- Vietnamese Baby
Neu! -- Lilac Engel and Super
Brian Eno -- Third Uncle
The Count 5 -- Psychotic Reaction
Simply Saucer -- Nazi Apocalyse
The Velvet Underground -- Sister Ray
The Monks -- I Hate You

(and yeah, I guess I'll admit to liking Borstal Breakout, too).

Punk fashion back in the day was quite bondage-y. I believe Malcolm McClaren had been running a boutique specializing in S&M and domination gear when he started managing The Sex Pistols.

(Ahem) So if a certain amount of deviant-sounding verbiage shows up in a list of classic 70s punk songs, it should be chalked up to the thematic preoccupations of the movement and not to my own proclivites.

Er, not that there's anything wrong with that...lifestyle choices and everything...

Speaking of deviants, it just occured to me that I completely forgot to include The Damned in that list. We'll go with "Neat Neat Neat" then (though their cover of the MC5's "Looking at You" is also a cracker).

Whoah. Can't be done - too many songs to choose from. Instead, here are the albums that ruled my life:

Teen Years:
Nevermind - Nirvana
Ten - Pearl Jam
Appetite - Guns n Roses
Facelife - Alice in Chains
Operation Mindcrime - Queensryche

Twenties:
Blues for the Red Sun - Kyuss
Little Earthquakes - Tori Amos
Spine of God - Monster Magnet
Undertow - Tool
Mezzanine - Massive Attack
Hybrid Theory, Meteora - Linkin Park
Mellon Collie - Smashing Pumpkins
All albums - Sade (I'm not joking...)
Remasters - Led Zeppelin

Thirties:
Lateralus - Tool
The Osbourne Years - Black Sabbath
Infiltrate... - CKY

Not an exhausive list, but the best I can do before breakfast...

Love the inclusion of the Capcom Sound Team.

Can't believe I missed the following from my original list:

The Trooper - Iron Maiden
Clean My Wounds - Corrosion Of Conformity
State Of Love And Trust - Pearl Jam
