Default Backyard ninjers inspiration
Lets take a look at our average ninjer-pet:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Deelo35i4GA

What does it resemble more?
where do they get their inspiration from?

your average kurosawa movie?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eijUlCEAyAw

or these 10 year old girls twirling sticks?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqqx-vKxsV4

be honest now
btw those girls really know how to twirl!

i beleive it to be in between. them thinking that the are doing the former when in fact they are doing the latter. also shows and movies like highlander and crouching tiger, hidden dragon come into play.

well that is my arbitrary 2 cent US. feel free to expand.

I find it very funny that they try to be the tough samurai swordfighter kinda guy, but in the end are just twirling a stick like a bunch of 12 year old girls. exept they have a cooler ninja outfit!

How many videos does that kid actually have? This has to be atleast the fourth time I've seen this guy twirling his makeshift bokuto and bo around.

i wonder what his neighbours think of him... "oh dear, he's doing that thing again"
and did you see see his dog run accross the camera about 25 seconds in?? just shows how "professional" he is.

hehe, I'm quoting myself to make a totally unrelated rant.

[rant]

I think the DJ at the bar where I work last night had just discovered the flanger button. While I agree it's a pretty cool effect, it gets really, really annoying very quickly.

[/rant]

On a more related note, I bet he gets all the girls... (the sword swinger, not the DJ...)

Oh, man! I wish that someone would switch the soundtracks to these youtube vids and repost them. That would be beautiful.

While obviously the twirly whirly swordsman waza is not my thing, I don't see him claiming to be a "master" of an art that obviously has no correlation to what he is doing. If he wants to twirl things about, I say have at it. As long as he isn't claiming that it is iai or something...who cares?

Haven't you seen the tags that he applies to his posts? You can't search for kendo on YouTube without this wank showing up. I suppose that'll teach me to search for kendo on YouTube, though.

As I recall, ScottUK made contact with this guy and was in the process of helping him to mend his ways.
