Having just a couple of years ago retired from a 20 year "career" (?) associated with customer service, satisfaction, and problem resolution (albeit in the supply chain realm of the chemical industry) I am compelled to comment;

The difficulty in trying to define "the worst customer service" is somewhat complicated by the fact the concept seems no longer to exist anywhere on the planet. It most certainly does not exist in "big business". You get better service and greater value for your money from your local barber than you do from any large business concern.

But remember, where you spend your money is up to you. We have grown into a culture that is satisfied with figuring out "who will screw me the least". And it don't have to be that way. Okay, lecture over. Sorry. Time for another blue pill...

I'm sure it happens all the time too. However, I have been perfectly happy with my Time-Warner cable and they have always been pretty good about any problems etc that I have had. They don't sub-contract out however (or at least not in this area).

bad customer/guest service bugs me a lot...

but at the same time there are some really obnoxious/slow/unreasonable guests/customers out there...
the first time someone asked me " When's the 3 o'clock parade?"
......

and the guests that pick on the charaters....the gross dads that hit on the princesses... durr....

i work in service/support org. it started with end users suppor back in early 90's to now corp. users. corp. users are more or less civil. most of 'em know what they are doing and they can be reasoned with. end users on the other hand.. are totally different animals. and if we deal with them long enough, you turn into one of them. i hate telemarketters. and i let them know i don't like getting phone call after 9pm EST. if they can't pronounce Peter Kim, i let them know. funny thing is i love doing this service/support crap. it has certain satisfaction that comes with it, like solving rather difficult issues. but in general, it's just a job that puts food on my table, and get me to go kendo twice a week. it's about as good as owning vegie stand in nyc.. well.. at least i get to sit on my fat ass all day long.

most of the time, i'm quite caring about my patients. however, i have had a few stinky grouchy old men that wouldn't even allow me to auscultate their lungs with out complaining, moaning & asking to see my liscense. When customers get irrate or evil you feel helpless.

I just had the week from hell, trying to order lab equipment, get it delivered, packed into a sea container, then shipped to Armenia. All in 3 working days, which is tough enough...

The number is salespersons I called who swore black and blue that their company didnt sell a certain item, when I know bloody well they did, and other salespersons who assured me that stuff would be delivered on time, only to ring up asking why its late and be told that it was never in stock to start with!!

One company I rang and emailed a total of 28 times in 2 days just to get them to fax a correct invoice with the right price!!!

Another one asked me to go away, get on the the website, register, wait a day to get a password, then download a catalogue, then find all the ordering codes for what I wanted, then ring back and quote them to him so he could order them - INSTEAD OF SCROLLING THRHOUGH THE SCREEN IN FRONT OF HIM TO FIND IT FOR ME - which the last person from the same company did and it took 5 seconds. Lazy bastard!!

AAUUUGHHHHHH!!!!! I HATE SALESPEOPLE!! If they dont know something, why dont they say "hang on a sec, Ill find out for you" instead of making up a blatent LIE?!?!?

GRRRR!!!! *stomp stomp*

BTW, from personal, behind the scenes experience, the Customer service agents that you are on the phone with, dont know shit, except the ones that have been there for years. I didn't know shit when I was working as one. It took me 10 months to get some semblance understanding of the workings of so called big company customer services. Its got to be the most horrible thing on the world, but you cant blame them. When you are dealing with 50 million people, its hard to get things organised.
