The original saying dealt with the military in southeast asia in the late 60's early 70's. Probably lost something in the translation.

I'm posting a bit late on this thread but here goes my take on the subject, as a former student of the university of Montreal and a member of there kendo dojo i've carried my shinai bag wherever i went on the campus without a problem, as for security i totally agree with Ignatz.
