Default Plans for New Year's Day
Akemashite Omedetou Gozaimasu!

Happy New Year Everyone!
(At bit early, but what the heck, I say.)

How will you celebrate the holiday?

As for meself,
New Years Eve, we'll clean the house until even the microbes spotless, while drinking Sake till we can't feel feelings anymore. .
For grubbage, It'll be a big hulking plate O' sushi, watching some really bad Japanese singers on T.V., me making fun of them and my wife Judo-flipping me into the next room.
In the morning, If my head hasn't exploded, I'm going to try 100 Suburi for each year I have been alive to ring in the new year......which will be a whole damn lot of Suburi.
Then we'll eat some Osechi bentos, and afterwards, a trip to the local Buddhist temple to pour some water on a stone dude's head, although he looks more like he wants some cookies with that Chef's hat and bib..
We also buy some talismans and trinkets for good luck there.
Then, we'll probably go here for some serious mochi-pounding. The Taiko and Kendo demos are always quite entertaining, and the Karate and Shinkendo demos are always good for amusement.
Hopefully, I'll catch me up a few goldfish.

All in all, not a bad day to spend the New Year.
How about you?

P.s. I wish you all the very best for 2007, may you find your dreams, obtain victory in your life, and have fine health, wealth, joy and a happy stomach from tasty food!

-Kenzan

no such grand plan for me. but will spend time with my family on the eve.. more than likely watch ton of spongebob squarepants with my boys. then watch the ball drop with my wife and bottle of bubbly. next morning, we'll have to go visit my parents and my wifes parents.

one thing i miss living about big city.. good japanese/korean food that money can buy..

I might try that one myself, actually.

Anyways, on the Eve, I'll be heading over to my cousins' house to watch the ball drop. On the actual day, my parents and I usually go and visit those relatives that we only see on these types of occasions.

Mochi pounding with family, cooking food, and launching illegal fireworks is what I plan on doing.

New Years Eve from 11.30pm I'm going to practice zazen. When that's over I'm going home to sleep.

In the morning I'm drinking sake, eating osechi and perhaps toshikoshi soba before donning my kimono and going to hatsumode at the shrine in town.

Toshikomi geiko at the night of the 31st .I don't know the exact schedule yet, though.Might visit a shrine afterwards ,sake etc.Since I came in Japan to do kendo,I thought there isn't any other place that I should be in than a kendojo, when the year changes, and the first minutes of the new year. And its so "japanese kenkichi" after all,I don't think in any other country in the world they would do kendo at the time of the year change ;p

As for the new years day, visit friends in Tokyo and shopping since there are new year sales.(There's still my female consumerist side )
