It was a wonderful movie. Yes, there was gayness, but, hey, come on, now, we're living in modern times (anyway, the gayness doesn't overwhelm the rest of it). Plus, homosexuality is a common and recurrent theme in samurai literature, as it was in samurai life.

EDIT: In fact, the theme recurrs so often that there's even a literary name for that type of character - the bishonen, the "beautiful boy" who causes trouble in the ranks of his fellow samurai. (Hope I've got that right; someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

That was a good clip. Was a really cool throw he did in the first minute of the clip. For a second I thought he was doing Iwama-ryu or something.

The film looks into the subject of homosexuality at the time. Its kind of interesting how sexual orientation was viewed with a very 'matter of fact' way.

Like if you are homosexual its fine...sorta like saying you prefer blondes.
