Not that my wife will ever see this but I thought it'd be nice at this time of year to say thank you to her for supporting my return to kendo. She threatened to throw my bogu away if I didn't, but in her heart it was the right thing to do. I love her and I'm grateful that even though she looks after both our kids 24/7, and the 9 month old nu-nipper isn't easy, she still wants me to keep going.
Now my new found fellow forum friends I hope you might take time to give thanks to your partners. It is afterall the season for giving. That way you can then go to your loved one and casually say "some guy in the UK gave thanks to his missus for letting him do kendo". When they say "oh yeah? that's nice" you can say "I said thanks too for you letting me do it". C'mon it's worth at least one browny point, or not, the choice is entirely up to you. Seasonal good wishes to you all. |

My boyfriend doesnt "let" me do kendo, or "let" me spend money on kendo. Thats not for him to decide, god help him if he ever tried
![]() But I would like to thank him for making the effort to arrange his squash games and "nerd nights" to coincide with my kendo training nights so we can still see eachother regularly through the week. He kisses my bruises better, listens to me chatter on about kendo ALL THE TIME, and wants to watch my tournaments. Hes happy to come along to BBQs where the only topic discussed is kendo, he supports me and encourages me. He has never once complained that I cant go out on Friday nights because of Saturday morning trainings. He tells me off if I miss a training. Bless him, he's a darling and Im very lucky. ![]() Sorry, am I gloating? hehehe, bloody oath I am! |

Big special thank you to my fiancé who’s been very ill and is insisting I get back to kendo for my well being even though he can’t and it means he’s going to have to eat bento dinners – which he probably likes more than my cooking – AHA! I see his plan now. No seriously, he’s the best.
Thanks for this thread – IMHO having a sense of appreciation always leads to good things |

I really should thank my old lady. Here goes...
H is for how many times she has picked my sorry ass up after being stuck in the middle of nowhere when I've "gone drinking". A is all my belly-aching that she puts up with. R is for the really good massages she gives. U is for the underwear she washes. M is for my bogu is always in the way but she never complains I is for I can't apologize enough for being such a pain in the ass, but I love you. |

In addition to our great life together and two wonderful kids, my wife puts up with a lot of crap for kendo. Including hosting about 90 people at our house for the post-seminar party each year.

In addition to our great life together and two wonderful kids, my wife puts up with a lot of crap for kendo. Including hosting about 90 people at our house for the post-seminar party each year. My wife, in addition to being the only female in the house, has to live with 3 kendokas and also puts up with a lot of crap for kumdo. She prepares food & refreshments for dojang functions, makes sure everyone's birthdays and important events are remembered & celebrated, and I think she's the unofficial "school bus" for our dojang sometimes. I really noticed the last item when the gas price hit $3/gallon. |

I'm away from home all week. On weekends, I TRY to spend quality time with the family. Unfortunately, I also have to be at all kinds of stuff so I end up being away on weekends twice every couple of months. That translates into seeing the family once every two weeks...
My wife goes along with this and runs interference with the kids. Kudos to her. She'll even iron my hakama on occasion although she still can't stand the smell of my bogu. Thank God for her.... |

Yup, Dwez, I made 3 trips to Cornwall around that time frame and took my bogu for two of them IIRC. On one of those I took a trip to Stoke and met Phil McLaughlan and a few other nice people. Our company has some equipment at BT's earth station at Goonhilly Downs, and we also do a lot of work with Inmarsat.
