I guess that I'm not cut out for this kendo stuff. Everyone else doesn't practice Kendo. ~But at least you apparently have gained some insight. My question is; If you really don't wish to study Kendo, why even bother to tell us? |

Yo, HB!
First, I gotta admit, Man, I'm not used to this level of honesty. Truth is, if you want to learn kendo, that humilty about character that you'll have to overcome will give you a good step up. Second, please tell me what you mean by, "I didn't even get my first lesson." Do you mean you didn't bother to go, or that you went but didn't have a clue what they were trying to teach? If it's the latter, don't worry. That's where we all started. Now, I'm helping to teach, and guess what? In all that time (studying and helping others learn), I've never met anyone who coud master a basic grip, stance, and hayasuburi (that hoppy thing) on their first day. Determination is easy to master. Just decide - is this somethig you want to learn? If it is, and you just continue to keep going to class, you will improve. Throw in a little practice at home, and you will improve a lot. I take it you are a student? I bet you haven't 'dropped out' of school. Maybe you don't want to go; maybe your folks 'make' you go. But the point is, you can get up in the morning, go to class, pass tests, and learn. This is no different. If you go to class, you will learn. |

The first time I ever saw a Kendo class, it looked pretty overwhelming. Between Suburi, putting on bogu, practicing against one another -- I saw Kendoka practicing Tsuki continually, and I thought to myself "whoa! will I do that?"
Nothing in this life that is good will be easy. I'd just jump in the pool so to speak. Buy a shinai, and do a few classes. Don't quit before you even got to try it. Unless you have other things to do during your busy schedule ![]() |

In the words of that immortal sage, Rocky Balboa, "It ain't how hard you hit that matters, it's how hard you get hit and keep going forward." I am also moved, when he expounded the most profound: "AAaOOoaaa n'mmm yeak, k? UUaaoooOoaooggo*Cough* *Wheeeeze!* haaanosshar*Hack*knowwutImean?..ImatalkinooaoaoOOO-YO!... ZZzzZZZZZZzzz..maoLAALnOOOoGGG... AAAADDrIIIIAAAANNN!! ~I just love that saying. Sheer Poetry. Of course, Ronald Regan said the same thing, but hey, truth is truth, right? ![]() |

I guess that I'm not cut out for this kendo stuff. you know what, in that case is better that you dont practice, becouse kendo is practiced with a partner, there is no "one person" kendo, and that kind of spirit doesnt do nothing but getting in the way of people that really wants to learn from a proper training. having a lame pussy ass practice partner with a bad attitude is bad for everyone that practice with him, not olny for himself. so if you want to do a favor to the world, dont practice unless you change your lame ass attitud, |
