lol. Im never one to quit easy and im a stubborn blank as many of you may have guessed. I would suggest that those who do not know much about other arts to stop making comments on ninjukai taijitsu. Im sure if I could endure half an hour of horse stance torture i could endure 6 months of being whacked on the head. I have made up my mind to try kendo but there are no guarantees that i would prefer it over iaido or something similar around these parts. maybe even aikido would be a suitable option for training. I know that kendo has a low success rate for students, but im sure thats mainly because the people who join are looking to become quick samurai with awesome sword skills and dont appreciate hard work of being beaten over the head with a shinai lol. How about this though; if I join a dojo i will i will post something in the lounge after the beginners course. If i am still there i wil post something again to let you know. If not I will do the same and you guys can place as many bets as you like. Unfortunately pgsmith, masahiro, and paikea you may end up paying out for more than you bargained. And what do i get? considering i dont drink beer is out of the question and cheap :-P. I think the knowledge of succeeding despite all of your bets would be enough.
Thankyou for your sentiments newbie :-D. I appreciate them when all i get is flames. |

Great way to drive someone off, man. Not at all. If he's seriously interested in kendo, he'll go no matter what I say. If he's simply another deluded Japanese fan boy bringing a full cup of "knowledge" to the dojo with him (that's my personal view of him), he won't last no matter what I say. I've taught many kids just like that (sword arts, not kendo), and they all tend to be much more effort, and cause much more disruption, than they are worth. If he's that easily discouraged, your sensei will be appreciative of not having to waste time with him.
I would suggest that those who do not know much about other arts to stop making comments on ninjukai taijitsu. Only if those that do not know much about Japanese arts and history stop making foolish comments as if they did. Can I have your beer then? Sorry Perry, that's going to be my beer! |

Also, half an hour in kiba dachi isn't exactly an impressive feat. |

"kiba-dachi" huh? well its damn painful! And i have never joined an mcDojo except at one stage karate and they cared more that i payed my money than actually teaching us anything than how to punch over and over for many months. If your claim is that because you say its an mcDojo then it is then i dont know what to say to you.. Maybe you should come down here and try it for yourself. I do not pretend to know about your arts because i simply dont. The knowledge of japanese stuff only comes from what i have read and myu senseis. If i am a bit off i apologise but i stand by academic stuff like journals because the people who write them often know more about this stuff than the people who flame in forums and myself.
I will still go if just to try it. If you make bets you can drink the beer. I think its a foul drink. As previously mentioned i will not join a dojo thinking i know anything about it when i dont. in year 8 i thought kendo was just beating eachother with sticks so it goes to prove that i have found respect for the art after this period of time ad would just like to give it a try. You guys can drink yourselves silly either way |

alright, everyone chillout and stop arguing. Seijuro, I look forward to meeting you, keep an eye out for the redhead in white armour and make sure you come up and say hi. Id be very pleased if you prove everyone wrong, but in the grand scheme of things it doesnt matter. Kendo might be great for you, it might not, who knows.
