I've been looking into SC2, and I am a little disappointed.
So far it's very fancy. Added graphical physics effects like debris rolling around. But the way the game is designed is a bit 'eh'. It looks a lot like Warcraft 3. They got rid of many of Protoss units it seems like. I don't know if they will bring them back into the game, but I know for sure the dragoons are gone. No info on Dark Templars/High Templars/Reavers, etc. They mostly focused on Protoss in the demo because I think they went through the most change. I hope this doesn't mean bye-bye starleague, because I enjoy watching those progamers play. nal_ra lost to savior 2-0...damn protoss...but that's my race |

OK, I finally watched the gameplay vid I missed the first time I get on the site. I'm fed up with sequels which add nothing to the original (I hope SC2 won't be like this) or games designed for 2010 computers (the same). Then there was Red Alert 2. Came out similar time as Starcraft. I think I liked Red Alert 2 because it was from Westwood and Dune 2 was made from Westwood. But RA2 didn't live as long as Starcraft is.... |

Dune 2 was great. The Building of Dynasty. Possibly the first RTS for computer. Well I know it's the first one I played on computer. I didn't get where Ordo came from, but their Deviator was weak. I would just Deviate the Devastator and self-destruct so I won't have to worry about that monstrosity. Westwood began the Command and Conquer serie just after Dune 2: C&C, Red Alert, Tiberium sun ... But Dune 2 is still the first in my heart. What I miss is the innovations: how many good and innovating RTS have been produced since 2000 ? Ground control, Supreme Commander, Homeworld, spellforce, fire department. I count them on one hand. It was better in the 90s : less games, but they were all special. I'm 21 and I already say "it was better before" ![]() |

Im 23 and I also say it was better before
![]() developers, and younger gamers, mostly look at the graphics. The gameplay may be shit, but if the graphics are hot, it will be a hit. so developers spend their time making a great looking game, instead of taking the time to develop a decent concepts, and work out the gameplay properly. so now you have great games, wich you play once, of half. I still ocasionly install the original GTA, Starcraft, Red Alert, even duke nukem. those games are still better them most of the games that get released to today. I for one, am glad sc2 looks kinda like the original. The original was near perfection, how do you improve on that? give it prettier graphics, and add a couple of intresting new element, but nothing that would change the gameplay. The concept of the immortal is great though ![]() |
