Default Photos From Japan
Hiya Guys & Girls,

I'm knackered - been walking about all day and seeing as the TV is crap here, I thought I'd upload you a few pics of my visit to Japan. It'll also give me a reason to stay in and rest...

Today's instalment - Ganryu Island:

Ganryujima 01

Ganryujima 02

Ganryujima 03

Ganryujima 04

Ganryujima 05

I've got a crappy upload speed so I'll only post a few a day - I don't have the software with me to resize 'em...

Let me know when you hit Kumamoto.

Its Haru Yasumi now so I might not have to go to work. Not sure about that yet though.

Anyway I can hop on the shinkansen and be there in an hour or so.

In the fifth picture, there is a guy in the middle. Is he a referee for the historic duel?

I stand out like a six-and-a-half-foot sore thumb. I expected this to a degree due to cultural/height/weight/hairiness differences. At major hubs (KIX, Shin-Osaka) it’s no big deal – I guess they’re used to seeing Westerners. However, once I got to Kokura, everyone was looking or staring.

Do they not have abominable snowmen here? I’m coming dressed as a Viking next time, complete with blonde plaits and horned helmet. That’ll show ‘em…

First keiko today. Be patient, dammit...

Saw this one place selling the crappiest of food. If you've been here you may know it. The logo is two 'golden arches' and there's a clown with orange hair near the door saying the food is healthy...

Actually, you should eat there just once to experience how fastfood changes from one country to another... I would go so far as to say that McD's is healthier in Japan than in other countries... different food quantities and it tastes less greasy to me... just for the experience, it's worth it just once...

Dude its got to be Mos Burger. Much better!

Scott try some basashi if you get down to Kumamoto. Its pretty tasty.

People in Hokkaido thought I was wierd because I like eating raw chicken.

Tim you should broaden your culinary horizons haha!

Scott,

Take Alex's advice, Mosburger is kickass.

Small portions granted, but by god it's good!

RE: Staring

Stare back, works for me. Bare teeth and growl for added enjoyment

BTW, I'm off to Tokyo in mid-April for keiko.

Keep us informed as to how keiko went with Iwami soke.

It was good. Hard work, revisiting basics...! Did a little itto seiho and kodachi seiho and then more basics. Iwami Soke took me to Tamukeyama yesterday to see the Musashi & Kojiro monuments - apparently we are practicing there tomorrow - Soke said "Musashi sensei won't mind..."

A few more pics:

Ganryujima 06

Ganryujima 07 - to the left is the beach where Musashi fought Kojiro.

Akama Jinja 01

Akama Jinja 02

Genji & Heike 01 (Minamoto & Taira?)

Genji & Heike 02 (Minamoto & Taira?)

Genji & Heike 03 (Minamoto & Taira?)

No keiko photos yet - too busy getting my arse kicked... Will post some pics of Kokurajo later - off to see Hyaku today so he has someone of his own size to pick on...! joke sensei!

How can it be your favourite when no-one really knows what happened?
