today, i was painting a yellow and blue striped zebra picture to go in the room for my soon-to-arrive daughter.... (11 weeks and counting!)
it's coming along nicely... next weekend, I'll do a larger one with more of a noah's ark theme with giraffes and lions and aligators, etc., to match the... sheesh, i'm sounding an awful lot like a woman all of a sudden... during banker's hours, i work in the legal department for a well-known package shipping company based out of memphis, tn. |

Funny, I met a lovely young lady recently who asked me the same question. What do I do when I'm not doing kendo?
"Do?" I asked. "Yes", "You go to kendo two or three times a week. What do you do the rest of the time?" Boy I wish I had a witty response to that one. "Well, sometimes I cut down big trees and sometimes I carry rocks around and rearrange them and sometimes I write stuff and, of course I like to sleep and eat and I have three hammocks strategically placed around. Oh, I watch movies and take big pieces of wood and make little pieces of wood. If I'm in the mood, I will take some steel and a plasma cutter and mig welder and make a mess." "Is that what you mean?" She looks at me like I'm from another planet. "Oh yeah, I used to tilt at wildmills a lot." (I decided not to tell her that for 20 years I was a piano player in a whorehouse) I'm not sure if I'm scoring points or not. |

Im a support engineer for a logistics software company, so IT stuff
on non-kendo evenings I either go to artschool (drawing) or waste my hours messing about in 3ds Max, Z-brush and other 3d applications. Modeling, making short animations, or making models and maps for various Games. in the weekend, I got my japanese classes, and more kendo practice |

And I forgot to answer the question... I'm a software developer by day, I am helping my wife get her theatre production company up and running (1 successful show under the belt, 2 more hopefully successful shows on the way) and then do whatever grabs my fancy. Recently it has been soapstone carving for pewter casting molds, leatherwork, bit of woodwork (was attempting to make a longbow) and I'll probably keep trying new things as they crop up... oooo, shiny!

I wonder if kendo attracts IT people, or if it's just that the IT people spend more time on the forum. I'm not an IT type, but I have a computer geek side... For shits and giggles I pootle on the 'puter doing fan websites for Pitchshifter and scrapbooking their musical career since 1989. Y'know it's a lonely job but when you set an obsession for yourself you just get on with it. of course the band are in hiatus at the moment, though have a couple of shows in October so a lot of those energies have now been transferred to my renewed interest in kendo. I have a young family so freedom to do exactly what I want is at a premium. |

Kinda like that phone poll for presidency they did (a good while ago) that said that guy x would win. The only problem being was that only rich white families had phones so when it came down to the working man's vote they were not accounted for (in the phone poll) and so guy y won it in actuality. Studying law? Are you sure that's the correct word? .....see you when you come back for your resit! |
