You can start with:
1. Hit her on the head (big Aimen)
2. Then ask her if she likes your big Men
3. If she said yes, then ask her out for a coffe so you can describe your big Men to her.
4. If she said no, then you can reply: Let me start the Kote.

Umm.. if she "knows" but is pretending not to, that might not be the best of signs...

Bottom line is, if you truly love someone, nothing can stop you.

Except for mace, tazers, pitbulls, and restraining orders.

I'm barely holding back my laughter, and that's just because I'm in lecture.

Funny. I think I'd rather take a tazer than, "you're my best friend" or, "you're like my brother".

My sympathies dude i guess it's one heck of a big crush you have on this girl but reason gotta take over at some point and you have to move on, you've done what you had to do (maaaany times it appears ), there are surely other itnteresting girl specimens out there especially in a Uni invironment..... .

Good luck

The worst was when we had to keiko together. We were about the same rank (yon-kyu) at the time, so we had a lot of jigeiko with each other. Frankly, it's really awkward: you look at this girl you're with, and can't bring yourself to attack or do anything. It really comes down to a tsuba-zeriai nothing-fest where both of you just kind of rest until you start fighting others.
Actually, I have experienced this myself, and it is possible to overcome it. I no longer treat my girlfriend any different from the others at the dojo. And she sure as hell don't treat me different either (been on the receiveing end of a tai-atari that made me end up pressed to the wall (note to self: Need more tai-atari practice))

I think all people who scream about "dojo love is forbidden" are just really envious that none of the hot kendoka at their dojo has shown any interest
Being together with someone in the dojo is no different from dating classmates or co-workers. Or for that thing: any one who you might run into on a regular basis even after breaking up.

Ofcourse it's double sided.

Things can work out between each other.

Like h20 mentioned, don't start backing off on how you do your kendo with each other because then you just stop doing correct kendo which is kinda disrespectfull towards yourself and your dojo.

Sure you can have a relationship with someone at a dojo or start one but the both of you should understand that while you are at the dojo, there is none and as soon as you are up against one another you'd have to give it the full 100%.

Not everybody can handle this.

Of course when a higher dan goes against someone who just started kendo you'd say, "they have to go the full 100% you said huh, how does this noob have any chance?". Sure, you shouldn't go pulling this out of context with the kohai, sempai relationships that the dojo has.

sorry ive got into this one a bit late, and youve answered your own question

though i have to disagree, perhaops not fries, but chocolate (or vanilla icecream-must be the cheap weatherspoons icecream) and chips (not as in crisps) go really well together

anyhoos
back on topic.

as already stated
you have had this crush for a year (my longest crush on a real person lasted about 2.5)
she knows but has done nothing and pretends she doesnt
could mean she is not interested, and therefore is being nice and not rubbing your nose in it
or is shy and waiting for you to make the first move
you've waited this long, you could just get to know her better and see where things go, ask her right out (you are young, you will get over the possible 'no') or do something valentinesy in a few months

as for in-dojo relationships:
mines not in my dojo per se, atleast not on a regular week in week out basis
though we have trained together
when my crush bloomed it was hard to concentrate
now we are together (and therefore know we like eachother) it is more difficult still
but bruce lee managed it with his student. and there was a couple when i did kendo
i suppose with practice its easier to turn the love thing off and go into kill mode.
i will let you know if and when i get there

Marrying my senior aikido student. In the dojo is in the dojo, out of it she's the woman I'm marrying next summer. While training I've hit her in the head before now.... to be fair she should have known better and had her head somewhere else at the time, but that's what happens when you're learning really.
