I am looking for the simple translation for "One Cut"
As in one chance one cut... something like that. I realize i might have missed it in my kendo or Iai termiology but sometimes thatc stuff gets by me.

Hello. "one chance one cut" might also mean "one chance, one encounter" in which case, 一期一会 (ichi go, ichi e) may be the best translation. Hope this helps!

For 'one cut,' 一太刀 (hitotachi) is probably the most natural in modern Japanese.

You can also use 一刀 (ittō), as in 一刀両断 (ittōryōdan): literally 'cutting in two with one stroke.' 一刀両断 also means 'taking decisive action.'

...How about 一撃 (ichigeki)? or the simple 一本 (ippon)? If you're referring to "that stirke".

Though they may sound a bit like judo or K1.

i've also seen "one cut" as ittou, as in 唯心一刀, "all the spirit focused in one cut"?

First cut is usually "sho-tachi", I assume same kanji as sho-dan.

I really prefer 一期一会 (ichi go ichi e) becouse it talks about "this is the only chance", "there's no way back", "once in a life"... If you wanted to say something as "one chance to cut", I think that this would be the best choice (as 758jo said).

'Ichi no tachi' makes me think of Tsukahara Bokuden and Kashima Shinryū. Which in turn reminds me that I'll probably never understand the concept.
