I have a wife and a daughter of nine who take up a lot of time. When I'm bored I'm behind the computer doing stuff like I'm doing now. Either here or on a music website.

Other than that I'll try to ride my motorbike and try to avoid doing chores and fixing up things around the house. I'm afraid that my avoiding skills need to be upgraded. I sometimes wish that a day had more hours. I also wish I was filthy rich so I wouldn't have to waste time at work.

It seems many of us have the same stuff to waste our time with.

I have 3 kids to keep me busy. And when I find the time I like to play my guitar, maybe write a song or two - should sell them really but I just do it for fun.

You must have an understanding wife to get way four nights a week for martial arts.
I do and she's great but here's the secret - judo is with my son, so that's both a kid activity and a father-son activity. Free pass. It's kendo she shows the immense patience for. Two practices a week and typically 3 weekends a year gone.

Hey, that's a great idea. My son is 4 and I start him and his older sister in TKD. I've done it in the past and don't feel the need to start that again. We'll see how that goes... maybe when he's a bit older I'll introduce him to kendo.

Here's a message of hope to all of you with kids...
I was a single parent for 17 years. My kids are both moved away now, one living and working in London, the other married with a 3 month old daughter. New girlfriend also does Iaido and teaches tai chi, so I have understanding and support. I now train 1.5 to 2 hours EVERY morning from 7 till 9 ish am. and teach my Dojo on Tuesday Thursday and Sunday nights. I also am beginning to learn tai Chi on Monday night (which has helped me develop a new empathy for beginners). So, 16 hours of iai a week, 2 hours HNIR and an hour of Tai Chi.

Google mapping, mainly. I spent so much time obsessing about my favorite band Pitchshifter until they split up, reformed, split up, reformed, split up. Then when I started kendo again all the energies I was investing in PSi was channelled into kendo.

The websites, posters and fan art became targeted at kendo with the photography, youtube, mapping, promo stuff, website design t-shirts tenegui. Essentially it's whatever focus I have to channel my creative energies.

Incidentally Pitchshifter played again last night, the first time in about 18 months at the Damnation festival with their old label mates Carcass and Napalm Death. Thanks to the credit crunch I didn't go, damnation indeed.

Sweet! I haven't graduated to that insanity... yet . Just mountain and road cycling. I can barely find time to go riding as it is.

But what do we all do when we are bored and can't get to the dojo? Video Games. I doubt that will ever change, either.
Sleep is also a good one.

I'm a geek so that entails watching a lot of TV shows from other countries, I also spend lots of time in the kitchen making dinner/lunch/breakfast or baking stuff, and I am known to make look-alike plushies of people as gifts. I also drive my neighbours up the walls by playing all sorts of high pitched instruments (ocarina for example) and since recently I spend more than an hour daily to study Japanese, mostly just homework but I'm also cramming 4th kyuu JLPT kanji up my nose... So far not much is sticking but thanks to Kendo I know to keep at it despite failure

Ohhhh, and I forgot video games, although that's gotten less recently. My faves are still the tenchu series and samurai warriors, but I also love all my Samurai games collection for PS2, although those games get boring pretty fast, it takes nearly as long as in real life to get anywhere with practice xD And yeah, the girly-girl in me drives me to play theSims2 and decorate houses and gardens into oblivion as well.. xD lol

Whenever I don't have other obligations, I usually find something to do . . . I don't like wasting time by being bored - I get too frustrated by not having anything to do.

When I'm not taking care of things around the house or spending time with my wife, I'm usually working on my guitar or bike, reading, cooking, etc. I don't have any particular hobby that I spend every free moment on, but I do have a lot of dissimilar interests that usually do the trick to fill the time.

Other than that, I like to do the typical social thing of movies and dinner with friends. Sometimes I'll spend an hour or two video gaming when I really want to veg out and turn my brain off, but even then I get bored of it and need to do something more constructive.

Y'all heard of intercourse?
No..... it's not the dish that comes in between your starter and main...

It is in fact an ace way to kill 2-3 minutes
Baym, I'm done.

...that's what she said.

I'm really done this time.

XBOXing, walking around Cannock Chase, cycling, shooting guns, DIY, nookie, fantasising about next years' holiday, buying stuff online, insulting people on internet fora, watching DVDs, performing voodoo, trying to fix my 4x4, eating steak, jumping up and down in a rage, webdesign, trying to chuck stuff out of my garage, reading, drinking milkshakes, listening to Lateralus, fighting with people I work with, and of course, pretending to be God.

pretending to be God.
I assume that the mere fact we have not all been morphed into bubbly, nymphomaniac college cheerleaders with buxom physiques has shown that you have, as of yet, been unsuccessful in this endeavor.

-But I do admire the spirit.
