$250 million to play a game nobody in the US gives a damn about... Doesn't seem like a good investment to me.

the plan is to fire all the other members of the team and hire screaming teenage girls who will form a protective cacoon around The Becks as he works the ball down the field, thus solving the money issue since the girls will work for lipgloss and Beck sweat.

Ali G is fantastic. Beckham comes accross as seriously thick in it. Which to be fair probably doesn't take much...

. . .
beckham is a good footballer. . .
Geez Debz, you need to learn that it is not proper football. The NFL is football. 300lb. guys that want to smash you, cause compound fractures, dain bramage and generally cry havoc and let loose the dogs of war.
This is something else entirely.
It's. . .soccer.

They would play proper football in the rest of the world but the equipment and steroids are too expensive.

Ignatz you are wrong.

Football is the one with the round ball that you kick.
American Football is Rugby for whimps.

Either way Beckham moving to the US for 250 million dollars
is the most brillant bit of stealing any agent has ever done. Beckham
has always been overrated but even at his prime he would never be
worth that sum of money. I hope it doesn't kill the MLS, although I dont
watch it I was hoping it may develop into good viewing football one day.

One of my high school buddies went to Penn State to play football. He was about my size in high school, maybe a bit bigger but I was much, much crazier than him.
Anyway, after four years under Joe Paterno he was about 100 pounds of muscle heavier. (I was even more crazier and weighed less.) He played offensive line and made the key play to win the Orange Bowl. He went to Canada and played up there for a couple of years then got signed with the 49ers.
The guy comes in at about 285, solid muscle, and plays one play for SF and gets moidered. That's right, completely moiderfied. Compression fracture of the spine I think it was.
Sells real estate now.

Yeah, wimps.
