Apparently, dwile-flonking has been affected by the long arm of the law. So much for my planned summer holiday of joining the professional dwile-flonking circuit.

Can't roll cheese, can't down a pot of ale... soon you won't even be able to brawl with the lads on the gutter in peace!
These britons are crazy. |

Dwile-flonking has to be made up rubbish, however cheese rolling is a traditional contest and the prize for the first one down? You get to keep the cheese-genius!
Most of these traditions are references to pagan festivals or ceremonies like the Padstow 'obby oss (Hobby Horse), which is a fertility rite or the Up Helly Aa boat burning (Viking) and these pre-date the arrival of that Middle-Eastern Roman cult that invaded these shores like a cuckoo in the nest! They're a bit of fun and a great relief from the depressing, dull holidays hoisted upon us by organised religion! Bring back the Wicker Man I say (the proper one, not the Hollywood version!). |
