Default Bamboo Blade
I first fell in love with the manga series when they started serializing it in Yen Plus. When I found the anime on Hulu.com, I watched it. Then I went and watched other stuff, and now I'm back, watching Bamboo Blade again.

So I'm curious... how many of you are also Bamboo Blade fans?

FUNimation has the whole first season up on YouTube for free. And it's Legal =)

I'm a fan of the series, but I think it's more because it's about Kendo than it actually being of high quality =P

EDIT
The channel is a bit hard to navigate around, so here's a better link.

The Hulu is also free. They have the advantage of having whole episodes available as a single click. 8)

Hulu has 39 episodes. I understood this to be the entire series... is there more?

Hulu doesn't work in Canada =P

So far as I know, they are working on the second season now. But I'm not 100% sure about that. Could already be done.

You can buy both seasons on DVD on Amazon and they are legal copies.

Is the kendo in it halfway decent or is it not realistic as compared to what we do? How about the storyline? Is it good?

I'm deciding if it will be fun to watch or not...

Well, I'm in no position to comment on the quality of the writing about Kendo. Having studied other sword arts, it seems realistic to me, but....

I like the story. It's a fairly typical Japanese story, about a group of individuals coming together to be stronger as a team, and the trials and tribulations each of them face. As it happens, I like that kind of story. And it's also what could be described as "slice of life," which, again, is a genre I rather like. So it was right up my alley. Kaoru-san, you're in the US, so pull up Hulu and check out the first episode.

I'm a big fan, even though I kinda hate anime.

They portray Kendo in a very shallow and simple manner, but it's easy to relate to most of the situations. With the right amount of suspension of disbelief you can have a lot of fun!

IIRC, they had a kendo sensei advise them so that the general movements and kendo concepts presented would be factually correct. There are 26 episodes and I haven't heard that there will be any more made. Technically, that is 2 seasons since a season is generally about 13 episodes. Hulu has some episodes twice because they are dubbed and subbed.
It's a cute series though and I found it enjoyable enough to rewatch although I disliked the ending. I'm told it diverges from the manga a bit in the 2nd season though I haven't read it beyond what scansites have available.

The armor, holding the shinai, and footwork is reasonably realistic. As for the rest, forget about it.

I mean, the entire second half of the series is just about the main character searching for her rival and they're both on the set of a Power Rangers show fighting off bad guys... yeah.

Lots of instant-ippon/death attacks.
