Has this been posted before?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naV3Mq24cZ0 It actually looks quite interesting. Anyone have any info on it? I'm quite intrigued by this. They somehow made a simulator for the kama. Or I hope they did. I feel sorry for the nito guy if they didn't. |

Actually did this once, but the ryu that used the kusarigama only used one. Basically if they missed (if you can dodge a ball, you can dodge a ball on a chain) and you closed in they were screwed. I imagine someone ranked higher might have been a somewhat different story though.
We only used a shinai and the wood kusarigama with that leather ball on the end, and a hunk of pool noodle for padding. |

I saw this video a few weeks ago, I agree with Anonymous through, the player with the ball and chain would only get one chance to strike and if it fails, the other player can easy step in and strike and win.
Through also watching, I would think also if he was fast enough, he could move in for the attack ashe is swinging before he swings the ball at you, if anything, with him moving toward you, it would put you off and ruin the strike arc, you would just need to keep a eye out for his other weapon once you close in. But who knows, what if both players was really high levels? Scary I guess anyway being on the other end of that ball. |
