Default Cleaning Tabi...
I had been using a pair of cotton tabi boots (odori?), the ones with the little buckles, for training while my feet were healing from some sores. They have become very stinky and dirty and I have no idea how I should clean these things. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

It's pretty simple: hand wash in cold water, hang dry. Don't put them in the dryer or they'll shrink.

I wear mine out pretty rapidly at the toes, probably from quick changes in movement during iai. Wish I knew how to reduce that tendency, because I go through several pairs a year and tabi aren't cheap.

Buy the leather soled ones. They actually feel much better on the floor, and don't wear out nearly as quickly. Peter Boylan at Mugendo Budogu used to carry some decent ones.
