Default Kendo Shopping in Kyoto
Going to Japan next week, and I'll mostly be in Kyoto. Wondering where I should go looking for kendo gear, or even just some souvenir tenugui. Hook a fellow kenshi up?

erm... I heard of a place that is pretty good... Tozando or something...

Seriously though, if you stop by then drop in to our store in Nishijin, and ask for me (Andy) and I'll help you out.

Are you planning to practice whilst you are over here?

Support Tozando (and Andy)! They help keep KW alive. Apart from this very important reason, Tozando's shops are very cool, and the prices are very good. I'm taking my brother in tomorrow to get a set of bogu.

I'll third that!
Can't go to Kyoto without visiting Tozando. Great wares, good value, helpful folks. Did not realize that Andy worked there though.

No doubt, go and visit Andy at Tozando; I was there in May. Andy is able to give you all the advice and information about your kendo purchases face-to-face and detail that you cannot get out of a website. Have a good trip.

I found one Tozando store, near Heian Jingu. It was after hours, though, and I think that was the iaido one.

Hi Mate,

Yeah the one near the Heian Shrine is for Iaido mainly,

Our Kendo store is in Nishijin, not far from Nijo Castle.

You can see a map here - http://www.tozandoshop.com/help_answer.asp?ID=17#137

Bummer. Having been to Nijo-jo before, we didn't go by there, and I'm back in Korea, now. That's too bad.
