Algeria did perform well, lucky for England that they don't have a striker.
I just don't understand why Capello insists on playing Lampard and Gerrard together and with all do respect to Heskey, he shouldn't be starting, England needs an active threatening striker . Hopefully Capello will start Defoe, J Cole and Carrick in the next game and please no Lampard and Gerrard at the same time. |

england out (as most probably already know)
Germany deserved to win even if it was a goal (englands 2nd ) the result would have been the same that was wasnt a game of football, basically we were taken apart by a YOUNGER BETTER team and pubically executed in front of 40k odd people well at least most of those prats will be to old for the next one |

I was struck by how happy the German players were as they made their substitutions. High-fiving as they came on. When as a team have we ever seen that scene with England? To enjoy a match, to dominate and to be good enough to be happy and smiling that the job is done when you leave the field.
I can't tell now if it's worse to be a die-hard football fan or a casual supporter who has been caught up with the 'fever' only to wish they'd never followed the die-hard's lead [much as they hate us part-timers]. Although the goal that was disallowed wouldn't have impacted the final score line you never know what psycological effect it could have had if it had been allowed. Regardless the final score allows FIFA to duck the issue altogether which is saddest part. 'It takes too long to check', what kind of excuse is that, or the other one 'fans like to debate such issues' and lastly 'it's too expensive to implement and unfair on the poorer clubs' well so is having millions to spend on top class players but they're not capping wages for the likes of Chelsea and Man City to make it fair for Blackpool! |

i love folks who say "it wouldn't have mattered" (re: ENG vs. GER)...
going into halftime 2:1 vs. 2:2 is significant I think.... especially with all the frustration and anger of WHY you go in at the half 2:1. that said, i was cheering for GER anyway. ...took em a long time to "right the wrong" that happened in 1966(?) ... simply incredible that the two goals were SO MUCH alike... |

I agree with Tango, there's something called momentum and to come back the way they did in only 2 minutes time, shows what the english players are capable of, to be denied that 2nd goal forced them to be in all out attacking mode which the germans capitalized on with two counter-attacks. I still believe that this generation of english players deserve better and also that Capello should go back to what he does best, club managing/coaching. His stuborness was the downfall of the english squad, i'll say it again: why play Gerrard and Lampard at the same time, why play Barry instead of Carrick, why not start the unpredictable/creator J Cole instead of predictable/uni-function Milner and last but not least these guys IMO would've/would done/do wonders in a diamond formation.
For me there are two teams that i'll still follow, the dutch and the ghanaian squads. |

No chance... with that defence Germany would have still done a number on us in the second half.
Why are people querying that England fans have admitted we were outclassed, even with the disallowed goal? I can understand it if we'd said "we would have won if it wasn't for that damn linesman!"... but it's obvious that the Germans we're better in every department. Christ, if it wasn't for James we would have been 4 down by half time. I shudder to think what the score would be against Argentina. |

So, we won........
For all Brazilians, you can just cheer for Holland I'll give you some of the lyrics Hup Holland hup Laat de leeuw niet in zijn hempie staan Hup Holland hup Trek het beestje geen pantoffels aan Hup Holland hup Laat je uit het veld niet slaan Als ons Oranje-team zich meet met 't een of ander landl dan vult het legioen het stadion tot aan de rand Dan wegen wij de kansen af en gokken met elkaar en geven wijs of eigen wijs ons voetbalcommentaar Zo wachten wij gespannen af tot dat de fluiter fluit en rolt de bal, dan zingen wij met donderend geluid |
