Default Pick the state team comp
Let's have a crack at this. It's too early to narrow it down to 25 but if we start at 40 and alter it over the coming weeks we might have a shot. I think it's the strongest list of contenders we have had for many years.

Claremont: Kane Mitchell, Luke Blackwell, Ian Richardson, Paul Medhurst, Trinity Handley, Jarryd Morton

East Fremantle: Max Duffy, Jack Perham, Rory O'Brien, Andrew Stephen, Mark McGough, Rob Young

East Perth: Josh Smith, Craig Wulff, Garry Moss, Paul Johnson, Kyle Anderson

Peel: Kristan Thornton, Pat Travers

Perth: Paul Bevan, Ross Young, Leon Davis, Allister Smith, Matt Tedesco, Chris Billings

South Fremantle: Ryan Cook, Toby Bairstow, Kris Miller

Subiaco: Aidan Parker, Des Headland, Callum Sinclair, Ben Randall, George Hampson

Swan Districts: Graham Jetta, Josh Roberts, Wayde Twomey, Wes Lammie, Tallan Ames

West Perth: Jason Salecic, Mark Hutchings, Dion Fleay, Ray Bartholomew

For Perth i would add Matt Tedesco and Allister Smith. Leon and Elari's form hasn't been great but you would pick Leon based on his experience in the big time. Tedesco is one of our most consistent players and Allister Smith is getting better each week.

Ok, suppose we should think about narrowing this list of contenders down to 25. Tough job.

yeah pretty good attempt if EF players were exempt from state selection......perhaps EF aren't travelling good enough to warrant any of their players a state jumper?......looks like Peel and Perth's players are though!.....Bensti you are taking the piss mate.....that side from Footfan is B/S to say the least!!

Dont know about Hams, Anderson, Holmes, Travers & C.Jones. Also not sure about Bevan's & Morton's current form either...I'd have Wulff as one of my first picked, Ames, ROB, Stephen, Jetta, Handley, Rob Young in.

Freezin, Who is there that you might want to include? Perham, Duffy, Stephen, McGough? They were all in the original squad at the top of the page.

Personally, I wouldn't have Brad Holmes but each person sees something different in players.

Didnt intentionally leave East Freo players out. I think McGough n O'Brien would be the two obvious ones, Max Duffy as a smokey. Shows some serious talent.

I included Brad Holmes. Maybe a little bit biased but has kicked 14 goals in 4 games and has kicked bags of 5 in the previous two weeks (last week matched up on Petiggrew) so would have to be a good chance!

footfan, got no probs with Peel players in the final team, I rate Kristin Thornton big time and Travers has been fantastic as well. For me McGough, O'Brien and stephen have been fantastic for EF.....also Hadley and Duffy could be smokeys for me....Hadley had a late start due to injury, but the last few weeks has been combining fantastically with O'Brien, whilst Stephen has been EF shut down man all year up back. Duffy has that X factor and he looks the sort the higher the standard the better the performance sort of player. Though Medurst, Salecic, Richardson and Neon are all proven players and play a similiar role.

After more games have been played we can see a better line through form. For Perth i would have to say Ross Young and Leon Davis are must have's and i would really love to see Chris Billings in the squad at least. I don't think there is a tallish backman in the comp with his pace and aggression. He is growing in confidence and doesn't mind taking the game on. Matt Tedesco has been ultra consistent though i suspect there are a dozen around in the league like him.

Not a bad squad. Some strange omissions. I know the selectors were intent on picking an "inside" team for the small Glenelg ground but heavens above, surely you've still got to pick the league's best player (Ross Young).

Not sure about Dodd and Hunt. Can't see they've played that well.

Luke Blackwell, Tom Lee, Paul Medhurst, Kane Mitchell, Jake Murphy, Ian Richardson, Trinity Handley (Claremont); Ryan Cook, Andrew McCarrey (South Fremantle); Leon Davis (Perth); Steven Dodd, Max Duffy, Andrew Stephen (East Fremantle); Dion Fleay, Dan Hunt, Mark Hutchings (West Perth); Kyle Hams, Josh Roberts (Swan Districts); Brad Holmes, Kristin Thornton (Peel); Paul Johnson, Garry Moss, Josh Smith, Craig Wulff (East Perth); Aidan Parker, Callum Sinclair (Subiaco).

I don't understand why Ross Young isn't there either? Apart from Luke Blackwell i would say he is a better player than every midfielder in that squad.

Everytime we play Subi in a TV game, when Waterman is interviewed he always gives the impression he thinks Young is a frontrunner absolute disgrace him not being selected as he has been in great form.

Ross Young was BOG by a mile against Subi and tore Waterman a new one and began a bad month for Muddy. Must hold it against Rosco. I know Rosco has not played well in a couple of previous state games but he deserves another go and he should be picked on merit. If the Sandover was counted now he would win it with a few to spare i reckon from Kane Mitchell.
