Well done to the Subiaco and East Perth football clubs for getting this off the ground. Great to see that a liquor license has been obtained. However, what Is going to ruin it is the fact that only Subiaco members can take advantage of it. they can sign in guests, but that is of no use to EP supporters or the hundreds of other fans who would have potentially turned up just to be part of it. I was keen to go, but now knowing I won't be able to have a cold one really puts a dampener on it and I probably won't bother. This restriction actually sounds very similar to what happened temporarily with our Bar on the Hill.
can anyone shed light on why this is the case? my guess is it would be the licqour licensing mob (racing and gaming?) placing these restrictions and that they didn't even want to give a license full stop. ![]() |

Good that it is finally being tried. Im not too bothered with the liquor thing. I will just go & watch the game without grog. I wont die if I dont have a beer.... But its still red tape bulldust like everything else that goes on in this state.
The only concern is both clubs could go into this match with 1 win each, which is hardly appetising for the general fan. Plus the 4.15pm start is a bit skewiff.... Should have been left at 2.15pm as normal. |

It will be interesting to see what crowd gets to the Good Friday game... Some are saying 6,000 but I just dont see it.
Given both sides have won just 1 game and the fact its another sweathog day with a forecast of 33 degrees, I think if they get around 3,500 that would be more realistic. I game does start at 4.15pm which will see the second half being played under lights in the cooler temperature. But this heatwave weather has really slammed the attendances this year and I have no doubt it has effected the crowds by around 30% in the negative. Plus the limitations on liquour licencing that day is a joke. Im sure even God drank wine for fark sake.... Im expecting a good crowd at Bassendean Oval on the Monday. On the Sunday would have been even better given no connection with the dockers game that same day. But Perth supporters will see this as a real chance to see their team on the rise and they would love to dent Swans hopes even further. A win for the demons seriously lifts their September chances even this early in the season. And the forcast is for a coolish 25 degrees so it will be great for watching footy. Both Monday games are vital in the context of the WAFL season so good weather and good crowds will be expected. More so than Good Friday I am feeling. |
