Default subi $$$
after subis massive financial advantage with their ticketing "arrangement" ended this season and we thought a somewhat level playing field could be returned to the wafl, it has now been replaced by an even better, hugely lucrative new deal. I thought those grandstands were built by the 8 wafl clubs... Whers our share?? A million bucks a year, unbelievable. Can somebody explain this because it seems grossly unfair to the rest of us.

Media Release from the WAFC regarding the Subiaco Football Club lease settlement.

Subiaco Football Club lease settlement

THE West Australian Football Commission has reached an agreement with Subiaco Football Club to meet legal entitlements relating to the club’s lease at Patersons Stadium.

The lease, which includes function facilities used for AFL games at Patersons Stadium, expires on December 31, 2011.

An option to extend the lease until 2090 will not be exercised, with the WAFC and SFC agreeing to terms for all remaining AFL games at Patersons Stadium to a maximum of 10 years.

The lease extension will be granted as a compensation payment required under the current lease agreement.

This is an absolute disgrace, i have had enough of the WAFL being a competition of the haves and have nots and this will only guarantee this status quo of the last 10 - 15 years will continue. Good luck Subiaco FC, enjoy your 2 or 3 team competition. I won't be going to any WAFL grand finals involving Subiaco unless Perth is in it, which is highly unlikely.

Subiaco will forever be ahead of the pack financially and this deal reflects poorly on the WAFC. What a Joke!

p.s my apologies to Subiaco fans, it's not your fault but with this kind of deal the WAFL will just become more boring. A few sides might tease their supporters here and there but that's all it will be. Might as well start engraving Subiaco on 6 - 8 of the next 10 premiership cups..

Tell me this, what will happen when Subiaco Oval is abandonned for AFL games but might remain as a training venue and base for the WCE (which they have already indicated they will) and a couple of old grandstands are knocked down and Subiaco decide to move back there? This is a real possibility. Will Subiaco be forced to hand back the millions they've raked in to be distributed to all other 8 WAFL clubs?
