I don't understand the beating the Knicks are taking for not matching Jeremy Lin's ridiculous contract offer from Houston. He ain't that good.

Since when do NBA contracts have to make sense?

Skip Bayless was lambasting the Knicks this morning.

Which is conveniently forgetting how much Lin's play dropped off when Carmelo came back to the lineup.

that's because, as george karl would say, melo is a ball stopper.

Wasn't the team doing better without Carmelo?

I don't think Lin, solely as a player, deserves that type of money. But I feel like he's worth a hell of a lot of money to the Knicks in marketing and public support. Just seems mind-boggling that they'd take on Kidd and Felton and let a player with 1 billion fans behind him go.

With that said, I don't think Houston is going to get $25 million worth of play out of him. They'll get the marketing, but I don't think he is their answer. I'd be shocked if he comes anywhere close to Lowry in terms of productivity.

It's not even close between Lin and Kidd. They want players, not novelties. And the Knicks don't worry about the marketing aspect because they're, well, the Knicks. The money is coming in regardless.

The money from China is now flowing to Houston. Don't kid yourself that the Chinese market is a novelty.

As for the money, they owe Felton and Kidd up to $28 million over the next 3-4 years. Granted, Felton's salary replaces Jeffries salary (or at least I assume that). And if they wanted players and not novelties, I'm not sure what they are doing signing Kidd and Felton. A 40-year-old and a fatass? Yikes.

Again, I can't stress enough that I don't think Lin is a great player. At this point we haven't even seen enough to know if he's going to be an average PG. But the Knicks have had a more than curious off-season.

They are still clinging to have Yao over here too, so they should already have the asian market. This only helps.

Yes.

But Carmelo is going nowhere.

Are you saying Lin is not close to as good as Kidd at this point?

Yes, I am. It became obvious when Lin was on that crazy streak during the season and then they played the Heat and they made a point of exposing him badly. The dude couldn't even get the ball past halfcourt. It was an embarrassment for an NBA player.

What's Kidd really worth at this point?

I'm not a Kidd fan at this stage of his career. But he's better than Lin and fits the Knicks better as well.

You do realize that Jason Kidd never even had a stretch as good as Felton last season, right?

Well, if you mean as a backup, then yeah, I'm with ya. Fans would be screaming bloody murder if Lin was backing up Felton. Not so much while Kidd does so.
