I've discovered this was untrue. Well, Laettner was the second weakest part. But Stockton was a nonfactor, and Magic and Bird weren't huge contributors, either. |

I'm not sure what that has to do with the talent on the current team being better than the talent on a team that did, in fact, beat the Dream Team. and there's also the fact that jordan hardly played in that game. |

I don' think there will ever be another team as good as the Dream Team. Any team that starts with Jordan, Magic, Bird will be tough to beat. Then you throw in Malone, Stockton, Barkley, Pippen, Ewing, Robinson, Drexler, Mullin. All 11 of them Hall of Famers. Laettner probably never should have been on the team but I think they felt the need to have one college player. I don't even really know who is on the team this year but I would bet by the time they all finish their carreers there will not be 11 Hall or Famers. I think the 1992 team seems so much better because the country was far more in love with the NBA in the Jordan/Bird/Magic days than it is now. The 2012 team would likely be far more athletic overall. |

The PG's on this current team would absolutely destroy the then 30 and 32 year old Stockton and Magic. Or even 4-1. |

Because of advancements in technology, nutrition, etc., athletes are faster and stronger in general as time goes by. There are some guys from 1992 who are going to be as athletic as the best from 2012, but 20 years of advancement is going to make a difference. Same as the NBA players from 1992 are going to be bigger, faster, and stronger as a whole than the guys from 1972. |

The current roster could definitely give them a run for their money -- but I don't think they'd win.
Still, you put Russell Westbrook, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Blake Griffin on a court together, they're going to be tough to beat just based on pure athleticism. And shoot, I left Kevin Durant off that list. |

yeah because that team was full of stiffs like penny hardaway, chris webber, bobby hurley, and grant hill. i mean honestly how many guys on the current team are even as talented as penny, hill, and webber? not many. Deron Williams, Carmelo, and Love- as talented. The current team is not full of stiffs, either, ashey. One game could come down to approach and how the teams were used. If the Dream Team wanted to play Bird and Magic for serious minutes, I think the current squad could take advantage. I think the real question, though...Who wins between the Dream Team and Dream Team II? ![]() |

what do all of these hypotheticals of alternative players have to do with the fact that Kobe's statement is still ridiculous? well, not if x, y, and z were there. not if kobe was 8 years younger, not if...
but hey maybe if they play a short scrimmage, because that's the same as a game. well, they're coming back knew it was going to happen, 'alright that's all for today' Daly. |
