Oh I thought Jason Kidd was a big name player or yesteryear.
Yes, he is....Does that somehow change the Nets becoming one of those destinations as well or something? Like, is a guy like Tracy McGrady going to say, "Well, I was thinking of taking that minimum deal with the Nets, but since the Knicks brought in Kidd and Camby, I guess that option is off the table."?

As awesome as that would be, I don't see it happening.

And it's awesome because I like competition. On the upper end you have competition between the star collectors and star growers, and pushing them the deep teams with big rotations of solid but not amazing players.

In a perfect world, it ends there and we don't have any truly horrible teams. Just teams that aren't as talented but still play hard and don't hurt to watch, or ones developing young stars prior to ascension.
One way or another, he will most likely come to Philadelphia. It's just a matter of whether he'll be wearing a Sixers uniform or somebody else's.

I think it could happen, if Howard were willing to sign with the Sixers. They have more to offer than the lowly Nets.

really? Because didn't the Knicks just land Kidd and Camby?
I don't see how that has anything to do with the post you quoted.

Magic ending all Howard talks to "concentrate on hiring a new coach."

Sixers wouldn't be able to trade any of the recently added/signed players correct? (Nick Young, Hawes, Lavoy Allen, D. Wright)

Default Nets Impose Deadline on Howard Deal
And the deadline is tonight. Apparently they have jumped back into the lead, with a two team deal involving basically a Howard and Richardson for Lopez and picks swap.

Orlando should want Brooks in that trade as well, but I understand if they'd rather get another first rounder. That said, if your team needs a shooting guard, now is the time to step up and offer a first rounder to get one. Especially if you are a middle of the road team giving up a pick in next year's draft, you'd be getting a steal.

Williams and Wallace are officially on the books for the Nets now. The deadline is because they need to either have Howard or sign Lopez soon. If Lopez is signed outside of a sign and trade, he can't be traded until December 15th.

Not sure how Humphries fits into this, if at all.

I watched Ric Bucher talk about the collective bargaining deal and how it affects this deal, and then I decided to do some research. I could be wrong but what I gathered was that in a couple years this 3 superstar thing would be really tough to do. Essentially all the exceptions and shit that the big teams use to get players sidekcik players will be out the window. Unless teams want to pay big luxury tax numbers there is a good chance that all this super teams aren't as prevelant.
At some point LeBron and/or Bosh will be opting out of their Heat contracts for a bigger pay day. The era of the triplets will be fully done at that point.

In other Net news, they have also agreed to terms with Jerry Stackhouse.

Apparently the Nets are also now a destination for the bigger names of yesteryear.

Milwaukee should give up theirs for next year, they'll just mess it up anyway.
I would LOVE Milwaukee to do that. Late lottery/low playoff seed are of the draft is going to be historically weak.

Humphries was involved in the trade almost entirely so that Orlando could shed some of the Turkoglu or Davis/Duhon/Richardson awful contracts for 1 yr of him.

Brook Lopez agrees to 4 year, $61 million deal.

Wow.

He's gonna need to get some rebounds to come close to earning that.

Well, that, and actually staying on the court.

They could trade Wright, but only straight up.
