McHale can't seem to get out of his own way. He can't draft and doesn't sign good FA's and he was really helped by the league not allowing him to sign Joe Smith to that horrible contract but he lost a bunch of 1st rounders for it so that hurt the team. At least Isiah has a history of having good drafts even though he signs terrible players to bad contracts. Billy King and Billy Knight are both alot worse then Ainge.

What exactley our Isiah's good drafts. I mean I always hear how he drafted Stoudamire and Camby, but I mean he didn't have the worst draft spots in those years.

He drafted good players in those spots which means he has good drafts. Atlanta has top picks every year and don't draft good players. There are plenty of busts in the top of every draft and Isiah always seems to take a solid player when he picks early in the draft and last year he got 3 decent players in the draft and Frye is already their best PF/C.

ain't that the truth....what Dan Reeves was to tight ends, Billy Knight is to 6'9" forwards.

And McGrady.

people give him props for Trevor Ariza, and last years class as well.

He wasn't bad in Toronto...he just bailed early.

In Indy, he proved that he was a mediocre coach. The team was still decent with him there, but you had the feeling he could do more.

In New York, he tried re-loading a cap strapped team on the fly to appease the fans. And it worked(PR-wise, not results-wise) until everything blew up last season.

He does seem to be able to recognize talent. Usually.

I just think he'd be better off in a small market like NO/OK where he could rebuild without pressure for immediate results. As long as they also kept him away from the bench.

The Thomas trade wasn't bad since he also had a crap contract and they wanted a SF along with Robinson so that Frye could play more. Of course Isiah didn't expect that Charlie Brown at head coach would sit Frye for Malik Rose and Mo Taylor.

Ariza was more of a backup and Richardson had been very good for Phx. Ariza was probably the funniest thing about the entire Larry Brown era in NY in that he complained about not having guys who played defense and Ariza was the one guy who did that but yet he never got into the game.

Oh how true this is...and nauseating.

He spent two picks this year on what? 6'9" - 6'10" forwards. I'll be interested in seeing how he plugs that PG position.

At least this year he picked a guy who is wide enough at 6'9'' to play PF or maybe even some C. Drafting Williams last year made no sense since he already had Childress/Smith and Harrington who all played his position although Harrington was used at PF.

I'm not as angry about Sheldon as I am the second pick. Why? We didn't need another forward. Use the pick for something that might come in handy.

Shelden i understand since he can play D, and I hope he does. We could have had dee Brown, right? But to Billy, a forward is perfect, especially fomr 6' 8" to 6' 10". I actually wanted to go to a game, but unless they get a PG, I may have to re-evaluate.
