Jason Kidd
Nets Interested - Timberwolves? Feb. 16 - He wants a trade. He doesn't want a trade. He's never asked for a trade. Here's the latest: Jason Kidd has told Nets management that he wants to team up with Timberwolves superstar Kevin Garnett, The Bergen Record reports. "He has made it clear within the organization that he would like to play with Kevin Garnett," a league source told the newspaper. "He told management he wanted to play with Garnett over the summer and he hasn't wavered on that." Nets president Rod Thorn, when asked if Kidd demanded a trade to Minnesota: "I don't ever comment on any kind of personal conversations I have. He's a member of our team. We expect him to remain a member of our team for a long time." Allen Iverson 76ers Feb. 16 - Sixers president/GM Billy King and Allen Iverson met Saturday and again Monday before practice, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Reports speculated that Iverson was unhappy and wanted out. "I said, 'Allen, do you want to be traded?' " King told the newspaper. "He said, 'No, I absolutely do not want to be traded. I want to be here. I think we've got a good team.' " Said Iverson: "I wish people would know that this is where I want to be. I've had my ups and downs here. I've had my share of problems. That's what makes me want to be here even more, just going through what I've been through, helping me grow as a husband, as a father, as a person, as a teammate, as a player." Alonzo Mourning Raptors Interested -Heat Feb. 16 - Alonzo Mourning's return to the Heat is imminent. The seven-time All-Star center was examined by doctors Tuesday, and Heat president Pat Riley expects Miami's former franchise cornerstone to begin practicing with the team immediately after this weekend's All-Star break. No contract will be signed until the physical is done, a process Riley said may take a couple days. Mourning, who cleared waivers Tuesday and became a free agent, could be in a Heat uniform by early next week. Mourning's contract with Miami most likely will be for a prorated share of the $1.1 million veteran minimum salary, meaning the Heat will pay him only about $375,000 for the rest of the season. |
