The paper noted that commissioner David Stern will soon be in La in a few days to present the prize to Bryant. "We haven't been told such a thing by the league," Lakers spokesman John Black told The Associated Press. Bryant, who entered the season as the league's two-time protecting rating champ, had third in the MVP voting twice - after the 2002-03 plan, when he averaged 30 points for the very first time, and again last season, when Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki won the honor.
