Story:

The story revolves around Avinash (Raj Tandon), who is going through a challenging phase of life due to his academic failure. He feels lonely and his busy parents are unable to make him feel better. In desperation, he visits his grandfather Dadu (Raghubir Yadav) . Being the kite runner of his era, Dadu subtly imparts lessons of life in Avinash’s life. How Avinash’s life changes is what Yeh Khula Aasmaan is all about.

Story Treatment:

It's a predictable, yet engaging story of a youngster. The treatment is extremely subtle and emotional. The second half holds attention and kite has been extremely impactful as a metaphor. The high voltage drama with bit of romance induced in a teenager’s life is impressive. Few dull moments act as hindrance for this appealing story.



Star Cast:

Though Raj Tandon is the protagonist, Raghubir Yadav as Dadu steals the show. The actor gets into the skin of the character, making it very convincing. His affection is clearly visible and leaves an impact even after the film ends. Raj Tandon plays his part well and his innocence is clearly indicated in his natural performance. Anya Anand does justice to her part, Yashpal Sharma only gets a small part to play, but essays his character with confidence, Manjusha Godse is upright.

Direction:

Gitanjali Sinha has done justice to a sensitive subject. The director has also managed to induce emotions in the script, however, by the climax, the film becomes a bit too filmy. The lifestyle of a rural setup has been showcased beautifully. The film rides high on the thin line between the need of today’s world and truth of life.



Dialogues/cinematography/music:

Songs leave an impact and are rightly placed in the film. Ur Fur Kar and zindagi Bhi Patang compare life with a kite, and end up emphasizing on the title. While, Tum Mile is a romantic number which highlights teenage love. Cinematography is decent. Dialogues play a vital role in the film. The conversation between the grandfather and grandson is natural to the core.

Ups and downs:




Raghubir Yadav’s seamless performance as lovable Dadu can make you sit through the movie. Lack of big stars and the fact that it's different from the regular masala films, might act as a setback for the film. If you want a high emotional dose this weekend, then we suggest you catch Yeh Khula Aasmaan.
