Default DDLJ-AN INTERNATIONAL RECORD BREAKER
An international record breaker : "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge"
The Shahrukh-Kajol starrer "Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge" has been running at a Mumbai Cinema hall - Maratha Mandir for the past 500 weeks. It has broken all records internationally- the longest stay that a movie ever experienced worldwide at any movie hall was 6 and a half years. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge broke this record long back and with a good margin too.

The owner of maratha Mandir, the hall that has screened DDLJ for the past 10 years, plans to let it stay for another 100 weeks. He says that inspite of running for a decade, the movie still pulls in crowds and creates bouts of optimism and romance.

DilwaleDulhania Le Jayenge was the first movie of its era that brought in the theme of making movies on Non Resident Indians. This would call for a better locale, better international association and also, a way to woo more NRI audiences and bring forth more investments from them in bollywood.

DDLJ has a similar storyline of 'Boy meets Girl' but the family becomes the big reason why they cannot live their personal life. Kajol Aka Simran is the shy daughter of a European NRI yearning for the homeland, who dreams and waits for a prince charming to enter into her life whereas Shahrukh is the truant college boy who teases and fools every person he meets.

The beauty of the movie is the twist in the story when Shahrukh Khan decides not to break Indian Traditions and elope with the girl that he loves but to win her by his efforts. He almost wins her, and then again he doesn't. But he doesn't let go of the appreciable values like respecting elders and trusting their decisions.

And how can we forget to praise the powerful performance of Amrish Puri in the movie. The climax of the movie where the Late Amrish Puri lets his daughter go to the man she loves still continues to entrall the audiences. The hero always wins. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge!
