Cast: Vijay, Asin Thottumkal, Rajkiran, Roja Selvamani, Vadivelu
Music: Vidyasagar Directer: Siddique Lyrics: Pa.Vijay, Yugabharathy, Vivega & Kabilan Vijay's Kaavalan, directed by Siddique is an entertaining one. The movie had a good start and hopes a good move. It is the remake of malayalam bodyguard but the director has changed some parts of screenplay according to tamil audiences taste & especially for Vijay fans. Director has worked out well to balance the movie for both Mass & Class Audiences. This is the 2nd movie from Vijay-Siddique's combination & 3rd one from Vijay-Asin and is a good one with a humorous background. Vijay(Bhoominathan) is very much fond of goondas right from his childhood. He loved to take risks and to be brave always. He starts learning to become a brave goonda by becoming a bodyguard for famous anti socials. Sometime later, he decides to become the bodyguard of a wealthy and powerful man Rajkiran. He achieves his luck after saving Rajkiran from a danger. Vijay thus becomes the bodyguard of Rajkiran's only daughter Asin. Vijay follows Asin to her college as her Bodyguard. Asin and her friend Mithra Kurien gets irritated with him following them all day. The two girls started making fake calls to Vijay's number, trying to get rid off him. Asin is the girl who calls him telling she is very much in love with him and all those stuffs. At first things goes smooth but later on it gets into serious issues. What happens next deals with the climax. Vijay, Asin and Vadivelu have done their roles quite well. Vadivelu who stays with bodyguard vijay as a servant will makes us to laugh through out the film. As usual vijay's rocking dance performance continues in kaavalan too. Step up, Sada sada & Vinnai kappan are rocking with vijay's screen presence. Pattampochi song is type of a yesteryear's melody. Vidayasagar has scored good music for the film and also visuals by Ekambaram is excellent. After years vijay has comes out of his masala formula, kaavalan is a family entertainer. The climax lights to one in Kuch kuch Hota Hai. Kaavalan Will Be A Super Hit Movie Of this Pongal. Vijay Rocks in Performance. Kaavalan Movie Review ~ Real Pongal Treat
Movie: Kaavalan Director: Siddique Producer: Romesh Babu Music: Vidyasagar Cast: Vijay, Asin, Vadivelu, Raj Kiran, Roja Everyone has been expecting so much from this Vijay movie, that too after so many hurdles he has been facing in the recent past indeed the actor has shined through, thanks to his never give up attitude. This movie is all in all Vijays Pongal treat for his eager fans. There is not a moment you are going to miss him as you sail across 2 hour 25 minutes. A movie that has been made with careful thought Siddique surely will see great collaborations with Vijay in the near future. This is the 2nd movie from Vijay-Siddique’s combination & 3rd one from Vijay-Asin. Cast Review: Ilayathalapathy Vijay - Has impressed with his sizzling moves as we saw many roaring with joy on their seats hooting and cheering him for his killer moves. The stunts were more than what a Vijay fan could get. Asin looks her usual pretty self, but she’s too well-made up and there’s a haggard look in her eyes that’s hard to miss. As for Siddique – Well credit to this man for carefully selecting the parts that really worked for Bodyguard, he really made it more entertaining than the malayalm flick twisting and turning it in the first half. Vadivelu – has been a comic relief and delivered as expected of him. With his blazing trail of comic dose has held it all together well. Positive Points: *Ekhambaram’s camera work is neat. *Vijay has spun his magical web again; his charisma is what the movie feeds on. He has knocked out doubts about an instable film career as his competitors claimed for the moment and has done it his way. *His screen presence has surely added the much needed spice to the tracks on a visually level as they are not so great on their own. *Humour has been used as the basis but it has been a great finish nonetheless, with the climax really taking the audience for a ride. Verdict: Nevertheless a family entertainer. This movie burdened with expectations has stayed to be on the safer side and well, it surely has succeeded in a way. http://www.kollytalk.com/review/kaav...-pongal-treat/ |

Kavalan- A Review
It has been 2 hrs after the movie but still everything looks blur, where ever I turn I can only see the cute Vijay and gorgeous Asin wrapped with a wonderful BGM.I know this is the perfect time to write a short review for the Class Movie ‘Kavalan’. Yesterday night I was not sure if I will have a chance to see Kavalan, whether the movie will release or not. But the only thing that came to my mind for all these questions are Vijay’s words. “Idhu en project illa idhu en prestige, I don’t want to disappoint my fans on Pongal. “ And Guess what! Vijay crossed all hurdles and released the movie on Pongal 2011 for his beloved (Nenjil Kudiirukum) fans. Salute to u sir, proud to be your fan. Siddique(The Master): Kavalan is a remake of Malayalam movie Bodyguard which had Dileep and Nayanthara as lead pair directed by Siddique himself. Siddique has not bothered to tamper the storyline of Bodyguard. He has delivered the same storyline in form of Kavalan but with elements that cannot be done by anyone other than VIJAY (be it the dance or the timing comedy or the fierce fights). If you are bored by so called sweet love stories, take a break and watch Kavalan and understand what really a ‘SWEET LOVE STORY’ is. The storyline is quiet simple but the sentimental climax is what that crowns the movie .The performance of Vijay and Asin can be described as the best by both of them throughout their film career. A very few directors has the ability to mold the actors according to their script, Siddique Stands in lead among all such directors. Thanks for rediscovering the ACTOR Vijay. Asin (Pure Acting and performance): “Nayan had done this role in a grand manner I am trying to justify her performance” said Asin , in Kavalan Press-meet. Well in reality she has overtaken Nayan by all means. Wonderful performance!!!Finding a place for Asin in songs was a bit difficult as Songs are part of Bhoomi’s Imagination where he has not had a glimpse of his lady love (Ammu Kutty) till the climax but in songs like ‘Step it up’, ‘Pattam Putchi’ and ‘Yaar adhu’ Asin’s expressions and style was gorgeous. Everyone knows Asin for her acting skill; Siddique has used those features very well and has given her rocking reentry in to Kollywood in a very grand manner. Welcome Back Asin!!! Vadivelu (The Vedi-Velu): Siddique is known for his humorous touch to the storyline and Kavalan is no exception to the master’s formula. After a very long time, we got an opportunity to see a movie where comedy track was not separate. Again the master’s touch was evident from your comical expressions. Vadivel’s comedy in this film was as enjoyable as his role in friends. Fans were dying to see such slapstick comedies in his movies. “Avare conpuse aitaaru….” “Parvathi Nambiar” “Boss Lover Boss” “Adhey than andha taylorum sonan” All the above dialogues will be inscribed in Vadivelu’s list of successful comedy dialogues . Mithra Kuriyan( The beautiful demoness): She carried her performance gracefully as in Malayalam version and in fact earned the wrath of audience in the last 15 mins. It is easy to portray one as a good character but playing the good role and astonishing the crowd with a villainous portrayal is damn difficult and she has succeeded in this character which was evident from the claps after the hug scene in the theater. RajKiran( The Godfather): Be it emotional acting or a fierce fighting scene Rajkiran has always been a better actor in these two scenarios since Nandha Times. In kavalan, No one could have fitted so well in the shoes of MuthuRamalingam except for Rajkiran. His role was respectable and did have a good look in the climax scenes. Wonderful selection by Siddique. Vidyasagar: (A centurion) Vidyasagar is well known for his melodies touch and the album of Kavalan was no exception. But the BGM used in the movie along with variety of symphonies here and there was indeed a great plus to the movie. Every romantic touch in movies are not based on location (sets) but based on the beautiful BGMs and Vidyasagar’s BGM holds the maximum number of shares in the success of the Romantic Movie –Kavalan. Choreography: After a song is made for a Vijay movie, Compared to the directors the choreographers do a very hard work to come up with hard and tough steps so that they can make the song look more enjoyable and also they can train the dancing legend a few steps. Step it up – Amazing steps and lovely expressions Pattam putchi – Marvelous (Both the getup and the choreography) Vinnai Kapan –Enjoyable Sada Sada – Fantabulous (Getup, location and choreography ) Yaar adhu – The best choreography I have seen in recent times. A very few choreographers have accomplished the feat of not making Vijay dance for a song. The one that comes to everyone’s mind is the ever classic “Ennai thalata Varuvala” .’Yaar adhu’ will be remembered as the latest version of “Ennai thalata Varuvala”. Cinematography: Camera was wonderfully handles by Ekambaram. Be it the close-up shots that revealed the performance of the actors or be in the long shot that gives a landscape view to the song, hats off to cameraman for giving the best outlook of what Siddique had in mind. Did I forget anyone??? Oops!!! Don’t mistake me for not writing about the Young General involved in this Film, I have decided to write a separate review for Thalaivar. But I am informed to keep my review short and crisp. So here it goes… Vijay (Young general): Ilayathalapathy, once remembered as a Romeo, Shahjahan, a chocolate boy changed his course and entered the mass hero image. When his fans where looking for a small change the Leopard leaped backwards into its former role (Lover boy) and amazed everyone with a stunning performance and won all hearts with his cute expressions. Many commented that it was like seeing ‘Thulatha manamum thullum’,’Kushi’,’Kadhaluku Mariyadhai’ Vijay back in screen, but I feel like seeing a never before seen Vijay. His timing comedy and scenes with Vadivelu were a real highlight to the movie. Vijay’s comical touch did the magic. Vijay has been torn apart by critics citing his film’s formula during each movie release “A Kuthu Mass Number, a intro song, unrealistic fights and a heroine to fill in for duets” But Vijay has given a proper reply to all his critics with Kavalan even without a single punch line. Vijay’s expression and acting needs a special paragraph in my short review. His expressions for the song ‘Yaar adhu ‘ ,’Sada sada’ were the best till date .The successful on screen pair Asin-Vijay mesmerized everyone YET AGAIN with their amazing ON SCREEN CHEMISRY. “Aasa patu varadhuku idhu panam illa, gunam” “Enakaga neenga rendu perum pray panikonga” “Oru All the best kuda kidayadha” “Nan than avala iniku ponnu paka poren” “Azhagu mugathule illa” “Avalu ishtam en mela” “Life le oru change Venum le” Gosh! I don’t want to jolt down all wonderful dialogues of Kavalan but the style in which Vijay delivered these dialogues made everyone raise their eyebrow and give a standing ovation. Vijay’s expression when he expresses his love to Asin in the park did touch many hearts including Asin’s. One can experience ultimate acting in the climax where there is no exchange of words, but just two pair of glistering eyes. An Actor is one who can make u laugh, who can make u cry, who can make u love and who can make u feel his emotions - I found one such actor today and I am proud to be his fan. Vijay Rulez “Kai ala anakati thaduka nan onum Kalvai ilada Kaataru” This dialogue is for all unseen and seen forces that tried to suppress Kavalan. Thanks to all cinema fans who helped and supported Vijay for making the movie available on Pongal 2011.Vijay indeed proved to be a real KAVALAN for this movie(Both acting-wise and release-wise). Bottom Line: Want to have some thing sweeter than Sakara pongal, visit your nearest theater where Kavalan is running. Kavalan- The Perfect Family Entertainer “Indha pongal namaluku super Collection ma” http://vijaynet.com/mzone/rev.php?su..._from=&ucat=3& |

Kaavalan booking status - Vijay makes a roaring comeback
Kaavalan has now released to huge waves of excitement and fanfare and the fans are having a gala time at the theatres in Tamil Nadu and all around the world. But now its time to pay tribute to the man who has fought with this film and has gone through every inch of struggle to get this film to be playing at the theatres today. And thats ILAYATHALAPATHY VIJAY! After the lacklustre show of his previous films like Azhagiya Tamizh Magan, Kuruvi, Vettaikaran and Sura, the theatre owners had started demanding compensation from him for the losses suffered by them for screening the above films. Also with Vijay recently showing interest in getting into politics with all the flag release functions and the social welfare programs conducted by his fan clubs, the current ruling political party seems to have gotten into loggerheads with him for showing interest in politics as they fear that his entry into politics might eat into the vote banks that they want to secure for themselves in the upcoming elections in 2011. Also the issue of acting in the remake of 3 Idiots directed by Shankar has been troubling Vijay for quite sometime and he has finally opted out of such a big project which had led people to question his capability of selecting the right films in his career. But Vijay has fought back all of it and is reportedly said to be foregone his entire salary for Kaavalan and has also coughed up enough money from his own pocket to make sure that the film releases in time on Pongal day. He wanted to do this because he did not want to keep his fans waiting for more time, and he has finally given his fans a rocking and a 'treat more sweeter than Sakkara Pongal'. As of now, the bookings for Kaavalan are going housefull at various centres in Tamil Nadu. The first show of the film started at around 11-12am on Pongal day (Jan 15th) and the bookings are showing a huge amount of interest from the fans and the general public alike. With a big number of positive reviews flowing in favor of the film from various online social networking sites and communities, Kaavalan is all set to bring Vijay back into big box office reckoning and will help his fans forget the recent bad times that they have had to endure. Will Kaavalan be another Poove Unakkaga, Kushi or a Thirumalai (films that brought back Vijay after a series of dull films)? The next few weeks will tell us the exact story. |
