Judge,
Originality ellam ellarukkum irukkaathu. This is what I conclude after hearing about lot of inspirations. It all depends on how they do it. I don't have problem with inspirations. The end product should be good and should be modified for our tastes. Apadiyae adikkama iruntha sari thaan
Agreed partly Selva. But my concern is why they don't accept it openly? is it because they fear about their image or they are afraid of copyright violations? I wish these new upcoming directors don't watch world movies at all.

On this issue, Mahendran still stands out and I admire him more than anybody else. I don't know if at all he is inspired by any movies. Among the new directors, Bala hasn't gone in this direction yet.

Anyway waiting to see how Ameer comes up.

Bala hasn't gone in this direction yet.
Couple of years back, director Rudrayya's ( Aval appadithan) interview came in AV. When asked, " Tamizh cinemavin tharpodaya nilai enna ?, he replied, " Ippozhudhu tamizh cinemavai kaapatra orey oruvardhan irukkirar, avardhan Bala".

Yes, I believe it too. His movies made the difference in tamil cinema after long long time and he laid out the path for the new comers. He doesn't succumb to the commercial pressure from producers/distributors that happens so frequently when someone climbs up the ladder. athukke oru salute adikalaam to Bala.

Watched Tsotsi recently. Good one. Last 15mins was exceptionally well. But as a whole, the movie is good. Not very great. I loved it for some reasons.

I'm not sure if this script will work here. Story is too simple.

So, is this not a remake of Mammootty's 'Big B'? I remember reading contradictory news reports on this being a remake of that Malayalam film.
Big B is a completely different movie and it is a remake of the English movie 'Four Brothers' - but presentation/camera was sleek in Malayalam and it was an average hit i guess.

Ameer fasts for 'Yogi'
IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, October 22, 2008]

Director Ameer has now taken two big steps in his life as an actor and a producer with his latest venture, directed by Subramania Siva.

Ameer stands synonymous to the word dedication, by implying meticulous efforts to bring out this much delayed movie at the earliest. The maker of Paruthi Veeran is now undergoing a taut diet, not to pose a six pack but to shape himself up for the character of a load lifter (cooli).

The question upon his delayed movie makes him retort, "I am not wasting another producer's money as this is my own production. And I don't know how to make movies in just 40 or 50 days. I usually make my movies based on my knowledge and my personal formulae. If someone is affected by this delay then I am ready to answer them."

On a reply note, 'Due to changes in the locales for shooting has made this time lapse. I can assure that the movie will be released for Pongal.'

Ameer speaking about his workout says, 'I am undergoing these workouts to portray the character aptly and not to compete with the washboard abs displayed by other stars. Just chappathis and eggs are my daily meal. When I drill my other heroes, I should be working at least to this extent. Shouldn't I?'

On a glum note he adds, 'I couldn't even eat a plate of Briyani for Ramzan.' Anyway, hard work never fails to repay. Cheer up Ameer!!

Nice songs. Except that chEri song I like all other songs. Terrific orchestration

I thought Yogi is directed by Ameer himself. Subramaniyam Siva? ThirudA thirudi director?

Yogi – work in full swing
News Date: 9th Oct, 09

Director-cum-actor Ameer is all set with his new flick Yogi in which he dons the lead role and heroine is Madhumitha. The movie is directed by Subramania Siva and produced by Ameer under teamwork production house. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores the music.

With the plot being based on the life of slum dwellers, the actor is preparing himself through the hard way. An Interesting highlight in the movie is that he has sung a song and danced for a number in the movie choreographed by master Dinesh.
With the shooting for the movie is getting completed in fast so as Yuvan is carrying the re- recording work in full swing Definitely it will be different movie with a different message!!
