I think it's going to release in NJ as well. Both are about 1000 miles away from here

this is the first film on RED camera - so a landmark movie technically and the first movie with carnatic singer sowmya's vocals as well. Arun vaidyanadhan was raving about film's BGM as well and has a well known hollywood actor John Shea in the antagonist role. I am very very curious as to how english lines have been handled in the movie. Subtitles? or dub in thamizh? So many questions to go out and watch this one.

Achchamundu Achchamundu Movie Preview
Behindwoods review board
Starring: Prasanna, Sneha
Direction: Arun Vaidyanathan
Music: Karthik Raja
Production: A Project East West - A LLC Production

Fear; it is something that most people find difficult to admit. Here is a movie that proclaims aloud that fear is what it is all about. Achchamundu Achchamundu, as the title suggests, is all about fear. Of what or whom, we don’t know.

The makers have vouched that they have made something genuinely different in this movie. It will not be in any way
*
similar to a regular Kollywood product. Narrating a few disturbing events that a middle class Indian family in the USA has to face, Achchamundu Achchamundu is all set to break most of the conventions of Tamil cinema. The movie will be completely faithful to the main plot and the script, there will be no unnecessary deviations in the name of item songs, duets or comedy. In short, it is as different or distant a Tamil film that one is likely to come across.

Shot completely in the USA, the makers have also vouched for the fact that this movie will break the preconceived notions of the country that have been created by Tamil films thus far. Most Tamil films that have gone to the USA have mostly stuck to New York, Los Angeles or other such big cities, creating a larger than life impression of the country. But, Achchamundu Achchamundu will be set in a calm suburb of USA. Directed by Arun Vaidyanathan, Achchamundu Achchamundu, is a movie that according to its makers has to be seen along with children, because it shows things that they ought to know about.

Prasanna and Sneha are perhaps the only links that Achchamundu Achchamundu has with mainstream Kollywood cinema, all else is really unconventional, including the Red One camera that has been used to shoot the movie. Karthik Raja’s music seems to be tailored for a movie of this kind. There is also the very curious and brave decision to have almost 45 minutes of the movie without any background score. Looks like he knows what he is doing. The few international awards that the movie has already got are proof for this. Let’s prepare for fear and let’s be prepared for something really different.[/tscii]

Sounds interesting.

Final presentation matters most. For me, அச்சமுண்டு as to whether the new entrant director will succeed in that. Let's hope he does that and also poor KR gets some recognition from the project's success.

The director (An ex-hubber I was told!) has made a few short films. I just checked out one of them from his site (TheSeance). It was good.

I saw a short on youtube about a woman turning down a beggar and placing food for kAkkai. Annoyingly unimaginative. Let's hope that was in his teen years

Per this, the director is bb's friend (& also friend of Sriram Lakshman) and it's quite possible that he was a DF'er.

I think I read the synopsis of this one in IMDb.

I suppose the chances of his new film getting released in Bangalore is nil. But incidentally, I'll be in Chennai this Friday. padaththai pArkkalAm pOlirukkE. EdhO nammaLAla mudinja contribution to Tamil indie cinema.

PR, from what I understand of his sensibilites from his posts here in tfmpage and his erstwhile blog is that his sensibilities are small town sirgazhi tempered by aa tadka of youth in chennai spent refreshingly free lance as programme producer for raj tv, a neeya naana anchor type stuff, then somehow becoming a software export to us and moonlighting there with short films.obviously, you can see the passion for films there.
His blog had a feature called ambi mama, presumably representing a character external to him but he was so comfortable in its skin that I believe there is a lot of sirkazhi ambi mama in him. I assume you understand that stereotype.so, the beggar-kakka is not surprising at all. To be not disappointed, we must go in expecting that.

Other things I learnt about him in his blog is he is a huge nt and kamal fan. Not of the mandram and thondar variety though.
