No, I haven't seen it. Was talking to my friends in India a while back. They said it was boring. Please don't take this as a candidate to WOM

Back after watching Dhaam Dhoom. about 20 people on a friday evening 6pm show.

Positives

  • In many places, feels like watching English movie.
    Jayam Ravi
    Kanaga
    Beautiful cinematography
Foreign locales are part of the movie and don't stick out like a sore thumb
    Songs
No independent comedy track; the scene where Laksmi Rai comes into Ravi's house and the scene following is side spliting

Negatives

  • Lakshmi Rai is KW short of skilled actresses?
    Harris Jayraj BGM
    Logic loopholes
    Jayam Ravi's flying scenes
Same old abandoned shack fighting/chasing scenes

Dhaam Dhoom is watchable and it is a refreshing change from the usual movies. Lots of similarities with Dasavatharam. If this movie also succeeds, then Tamil cinema will continue on this genre.

Lakshmi Rai cannot act even if her life depends on it.
Some scenes may cause uneasiness when watching with family. (Are there actually cinemas in India showing that kind of movies? "huh: ) CPR

Story is about a medical student who goes on a sponsored trip to Moscow, leaving behind his village belle. Unknowingly he gets entrapped into a drug ring and gets into trouble with the authorities. How he manages in a land where only foreign language is spoken and whether he returns to India is the rest of the story.

Story is told in flashbacks and switches between India and Moscow - quite interesting. There is a twist, but if you have seen many hollywood movies, you would know what to expect.
Part of the dialogue is in Russian, but when it matters, there are tamil subtitles.

There are some scenes which will make the girls go awwwwww while the guys will Its definitely a movie for youth and is quite light-hearted. First half is racy while second half drags.

If Unnale Unnale was a pointless movie, Dhaam Dhoom is slightly better. Somehow I didnt get the feeling to want to watch again. But my guess is that the film will do well.

Dhaam Dhoom - slick without much substance.

UU, to me was a pointless movie. So DD is definitely better.

UU songs are 10x better.... Malaysian rapper comes on scene for the intro song. (THR Raga is conducting a contest, and -yes-you-guess-right, winners will watch the movie with the rapper next tuesday)

Kanaga has been chosen for only one reason... CPR

Thanks for a nice review, Nov! Just couple of comments!

The trailor made me think that DD resembled more of VV! But interesting to note that you are seeing similarities with 10A!

Lakshmi Rai cannot act even if her life depends on it.
But what about "Seyam" Ravi? He is no Marlon Brando or Al Pacino when it comes to acting!

Just came back from DD...Terribly, horribly disappointed..Etho oru high quality vijaykanth padam partha mathiri iruku...As a mark of respect to jeeva, don't wish to rip the movie apart...

Positives
- stylishly shot
- KANGANA not kanaga(nov )
- cinematography
- songs

Kangana was cute in her role as the tomboyish shenba..Hope to see her doing meatier roles..Ravi had a jolly good time with her (u know what i mean ) Intimacy between both of them konjam over thaan Though harris gave good songs, his bgm SUCK big time..
