Ramarajan once again
- 16.11.2005
Cinesouth.com

As we were coming down Anna Salai, we got a shock. Wearing trousers and shirt and aiming with a gun Vijayakanth style, was…Ramarajan!

What are all these new antics about? We headed towards Kodambakkam to do some snooping and soon had Ramarajan’s horoscope in our hands!

A person who once sang in Ilayaraja’s voice as he milked a buffalo, suddenly faded into oblivion as his market dropped. Separated from his wife and kids, he lived more or less like Devadas all these years. Somewhere in between were a couple of rather shocking rumours that he had no clothes to wear and no money to go to his hometown.

Just when one thought that Ramarajan’s screen life was as good as over, he appears as a gun toting crusader on the posters.

Evergreen Movie India (P) Ltd has given Ramarajan another lifeline. In the film ‘Dharman,’ Ramarajan has a double role. Gowndamani who is the actual hero in most of Ramarajan’s films, has no role in this. Vadivelu has been given that opportunity and Kaverivendan is the director.

At a time when fast action packed films featuring young heroes are running at super speed in theatres, where does the slow bullock cart of Ramarajan hope to compete? Will ‘Dharman’ stand tall?

Even as questions are raised all around him, RR continues to act!

Will Ramarajan succeed on comeback?
November 21, 2005
Behindwoods.com

Once hailed as Chinna MGR for his extraordinary mass rural following, Ramarajan was the king of rural themes. His films always extolled the virtues of simple village life over city slickers. Many top heroines have worked with him. Songs composed by Ilayaraja for his films are hummed to this day. After a disastrous political innings and messy personal life, he stayed in the wings for the past six or seven years. Now, he has decided to make a comeback with Tharman. It will be his 44th film. The muhurat for the film was held on Friday. There is a team of newcomers in this film and sadly as no leading heroine has agreed to play opposite him, hunt is on for the lady.

No leading heroine yet? I say that this is opportunity to bring back some forgotten (both accidentally and deliberately) 'actresses' back to the screen. Here are some suggestions for 'Chinna MGRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr':

1) Sri Priya-All she needs is a new wig and she's ready to take the Tamil cine world single-handedly.
2) Vichitra- She referred herself as a 'star' on some cooking show; I say we we bring this 'star' back to make this the best ever produced movie yet.
3) Disco Shanti- Actress and a dancer; 2 talents are better than 1/2.
4) What the heck, let's have all 3 of them. This is after all a Chinna MGR film. We can have all 3 women falling for this stud and in the end, he can marry one and call the other 2 'Thanggacheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee'!!

A sentimental comeback
IndiaGlitz [Friday, November 04, 2005]

After his Gajendra, producer V A Durai is all set to begin his next venture, which would star Ramarajan in the lead role.

Returning to big screen after a long exile is Ramarajan. Currently he is acting in a movie titled Madurai Nattu Thangam.

After completing the film, he would commence shooting for Durai's venture. Interestingly Ramarajan in order to prepare himself for his re-entry is currently undergoing a herbal treatment at Kerala. This he says will help him to slim down.
Durai's film will be completed in one schedule and would be made available for release this Pongal.

Ramarajan, who was at one point riding high in Kollywood, is these days fallen on hard times.

Though he cannot hope the heights of his previous avatar, Ramarajan is hoping that he will at least get a toe-hold in the industry.

A tad sad, indeed.
