kan, a shoe couturier offering bespoke styles as well as engineered masterpieces, is designing the impeccably chic shoes for Masaba Gupta’s IIFA Glitterati collection, a range inspired by and cobranded with the IIFA Awards function. Walking the ramp in kan’ ‘coloured by kan’ collection are talented new comers – Zoa Morani, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shahazn Padamsee and Dia Mirza.A self-confessed shoe junkie, Ileshaa Khatau of kan said, “Keeping in mind the aesthetics that both Masaba and the show stoppers bring to the show, kan has designed a collection of young and fresh heels and jutis. Known for our use of colour and Indian textiles, we’ve created a range of colour blocking heels, covered with contrasting shades of raw silk.” Ileshaa added, “To celebrate the success of the Awards ceremony, we have drawn on the IIFA sun as our chief motif and used it creatively in both our uppers, as well as on the heel. Additionally, kan has a display space where we will be acquainting guests with the process of handmade shoe making and gifting them pairs of kan’s handcrafted, unique and colourful shoes throughout the IIFA weekend.”

kan is currently in the process of launching its own studio, where they will offer clients a space to exercise their creative freedom by expanding their bespoke service. An auxiliary to their retail business, this specialized service allows customers to design their own shoes with the technical advice of designers. Clients may take appointments for consultations with the designer team, so that their shoes can be designed according to their specific needs ranging from weddings, pregnancies, problematic feet or bad backs.
