I do zazen useing the stool, I have found it very comfortable... but at times when I have some pain in my knees the chair is a very good option.

I meditate kneeling on the floor and using two zafu cushions to sit on, one on top of the other, to give me a bit more height. I'm quite tall so my legs go to sleep if I'm too low to the floor. I find this position best for me as it gives me a sense of grounding....I don't feel that when I sit in a chair for some reason. I use a yoga mat and an extra piece of carpet to kneel on to provide a bit of cushioning.
