Good stuff!
Flying Solo is okay, but it tends to cater for the stay at home mums (and a few Dads). Nothing wrong with that. Nothing whatsoever. However, many of the regulars seem focussed on building a business that maintains a lifestyle. An entrepreneur, on the other hand, seeks growth. Significant growth. There is a difference in mindset. We have a passion for the latter (however our client base is a pretty cleanly split between the two). Smartcompany I just don't get. They raised a heap of money some time ago. Have some smart brains on their team and, with all that, their site is fuzzy as it doesn't target a succinct market. Roll up. Roll up. All welcome. Plus the recycled stories. Its like reading a 2009 edition of the Woman's Weekly in the Doctor's waiting room. Harmless fun ... but you would prefer to be doing something else. Bring it on Aussie Tycoon. There is a gap in the market! |

Hey All
Well I am very excited to announce that we are working on a new and improved Aussie Tycoon. We have teamed up with a few members of this forum and have put in place a plan to make this forum the best place for Australian Entrepreneurs around. So.. what are some of the exciting changes? - A focus on encouraging young entrepreneurs with innovative ideas - More articles on entrepreneurship and how to take an idea to reality - Industry news and weekly blog - Free stuff! - Video Interviews with some of Australia's Top Entrepreneurs - Monthly newsletter - A new and improved advertising network - Integration into social networks such as Twitter and Facebook - Members only features (blog, photo album and other cool stuff). This should be up and running within the next month or so.. but in the meantime.. I would love to hear what you guys want out of this place? What is it you want to achieve from being part of the biggest entrepreneur forum in Australia? What else can we give you!? |

Hi to you both-
I'm with you Shane. I'd love to read articles about start-ups and successful business people who are members of AussieTycoon. I particularly like the focus on "young entrepreneurs with innovative ideas". This mob is trying but can't seem to nail it on the head: Young Entrepreneurs Network Australia - Frank Team By that i mean, their website is incomplete and i think not well maintained. And at the risk of saying a dirty word... FlyingSolo i think is quite good. Maybe because their colour scheme seems more welcoming and draws me in... It's easy on the eyes even with such heavy content on their homepage... Anyway i'm no expert! All the best & good luck! Melvin from quiet U |

Sounds great Brendan. I site I visit daily is smartcompany.com.au, they did a complete redesign a few months back and the result was quite good. You could do worse than to get some inspiration from their layout and features etc. The content isn't as good as it used to be though, now it's just summaries of articles that have appeared elsewhere, and a different story on house prices everyday...
I'd love to read interviews with other business people, both those in the start-up phase and those who are successfully running profitable businesses. Daily or weekly blogs from regular contributors would also be great. Looking forward to the new site! |
