I do. If they're really beat up and dull, I clamp 'em in a vise and use my 4" angle grinder to fix the bevel and get the nicks out, mostly. Then, I use my bench grinder to finish and balance the blade. Hardware stores have blade balancers for less than $10 bucks. However, putting the hole over the edge of a knife blade does the trick too. Sharpen the blade. Check the balance. If one end of the blade wants to drop down, it's too heavy. Sharpen that end some more, which removes metal and lightens it up. Once the blade'll balance, you're good to go.

I will use a grinding disc to get them close, then I finish them off with a sanding disc on the grinder.
And you really need to make sure they are balanced... I also use the knife trick

And make sure when you grind the blade, that you keep the bottom flat and only bevel the top (at the original angle) or the blade will blow the grass flat and not suck it into the cutting path making for a very uneven cut.

Just think if I hadn't of said anything about fixing the title. The others that commented would have looked quite silly.

...... and I rarely spoil anyone's fun. Just sayin'......

I sharpen my own with this

got to make sure that both sides are equal
it takes practice
but just a few blade replace ments and you could have bought this thing
most people over do it at first and grind the blades to much

A decent grinder will run you about $60

I've got three blades on my mower, and it can run anywhere between $15 to $30 to sharpen them.

That $60 has probably saved me at least $500 over 6 years for sharpening blades.

On that note, I've got a "loaner" Scag Cheetah 31 hp 61" deck for the weekend again (my mower is still waiting for parts) and that mower KICKS BUTT! You sure can't cut grass at 16 MPH (at least not on my land), but it sure can be fun
